The new LEGO PlayStation officially enters general sale today, October 4, 2026, and Gran Turismo has been given a prominent place inside the 1,911-piece tribute to Sony’s original console. The near 1:1 scale PS1 replica includes a removable Gran Turismo diorama featuring a miniature racing circuit and tiny cars.

The set was available from October 1 through PlayStation Direct in selected countries and through LEGO Insiders Early Access, but October 4 marks its general release through LEGO.com and LEGO Stores. It is priced at €159.99 in Europe, $179.99 in the United States and £139.99 in the UK.

Gran Turismo is hidden inside the LEGO PlayStation

Sony and LEGO selected only two games to represent the original PlayStation era inside the set: Gran Turismo and Ape Escape. Both are recreated as small dioramas hidden inside the console and can be removed completely for separate display.

The Gran Turismo section features a miniature race track populated by scaled-down cars. LEGO describes the diorama as customizable, while official images show the racing scene emerging from the side of the PS1 model.

Gran Turismo’s inclusion is particularly appropriate given its importance to PlayStation history. The original game launched in Japan in 1997 before reaching other markets in 1998 and went on to establish one of Sony’s longest-running first-party franchises.

Ape Escape represents another important part of early PlayStation history, with its own removable island diorama and interchangeable red or blue light on the monkey’s helmet. The two games are therefore more than small printed references; they form some of the largest Easter eggs built into the model.

A 1,911-piece recreation of the original PlayStation

The LEGO PlayStation is designed primarily as an adult display set and recreates the original console at close to 1:1 scale. Once assembled, it measures more than 26 cm wide, 19 cm deep and 6 cm high.

The package also includes a brick-built recreation of the original PlayStation controller, which can physically connect to the front of the console. The Power and Open buttons use functional mechanisms, while the disc lid and other recognizable details reproduce the appearance of Sony’s 1994 hardware.

The Gran Turismo and Ape Escape dioramas can remain concealed within the console or be pulled out and displayed independently. That makes the set partly a PS1 replica and partly a collection of references to games Sony considers representative of the system’s early history.

The complete model contains 1,911 pieces and carries LEGO set number 72306. It is rated for builders aged 18 and over and also supports the LEGO Builder app for interactive 3D building instructions.

LEGO PlayStation is available from October 4

PlayStation Direct began selling the set on October 1 in the United States and several European markets, including Spain, France, Germany, Italy and the United Kingdom. LEGO Insiders also received early access from the same date.

From October 4, 2026, the LEGO PlayStation is available to the general public through LEGO.com and participating LEGO Stores. Availability may vary by region and according to remaining stock.

    The official recommended prices are:

    • United States: $179.99
    • Europe: €159.99
    • United Kingdom: £139.99
    • Japan: ¥27,980

For Gran Turismo fans, the unusual part is not simply that the series appears somewhere on the box. Sony and LEGO have made it one of only two PlayStation games with a dedicated physical scene inside the entire model, effectively turning a small part of the original PS1 into a miniature Gran Turismo display.

More information is available from the official LEGO PlayStation product page and PlayStation’s official announcement.

You can purchase Gran Turismo 7  by clicking here for the PS4 version and here for the  PlayStation 5 Pro and PS4 versions. Additionally, there’s the 25th Anniversary Edition available for PS5 and PS4.
