The formerly incarcerated Gypsy Rose Blanchard — who was imprisoned over the murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard — has spoken out about the death of her former fiancé Ken Urker, claiming he overdosed and was found in his bed.
After news broke late Thursday, Urker’s 34th birthday, that he was found dead in bed in his Louisiana home, Blanchard told Entertainment Weekly‘s sister publication PEOPLE that she’s “in disbelief” over his death.
“I don’t know if it was intentional or not,” Blanchard told the outlet, claiming that “he was not in a good state of mind lately.”
Blanchard, 35, said she’s “screamed until my throat burns” over Urker’s death.
“Ken was an amazing father and a man who was deeply loved. He will forever be my soulmate and my red string, a connection that time, distance, and even death can never erase,” Blanchard explained, referencing the pair’s daughter, Aurora, who was born in December 2024.
Blanchard added that Urker experienced “an unimaginable level of public scrutiny and relentless cyberbullying across social media platforms, including TikTok and Reddit,” and that she felt “the cruelty directed toward him was something no human being should have to endure.”

“I believe the tremendous weight of that scrutiny and harassment had a profound impact on him, and I hope his passing serves as a reminder that there is a real person behind every screen, every headline, and every comment,” she said.
TMZ first reported news of Urker’s death. Police in Lafourche, La., told the outlet they “responded to a residence in Raceland today after receiving a call at 6:15 p.m. Kenan Urker, 34, was found dead upon arrival. At this time, we are continuing the death investigation.”

The 2015 murder of Blanchard’s mother also involved her then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, who’s currently serving a life sentence. The events leading up to the murder — including Dee Dee’s Munchausen syndrome by proxy — were highly publicized in the media and in various documentaries, as well as the 2019 Hulu limited seriesThe Act starring Patricia Arquette and Joey King as the mother-daughter pair.
