Ember Lab has delayed the release of its upcoming action-adventure game for PlayStation 5. The upcoming game was initially planned for a 2026 launch, but fans now have to wait longer.
Kena: Scars of Kosmora has been pushed to 2027 for PS5. The developer announced the news on the PlayStation Blog on Thursday. The additional development time will allow Ember Lab to polish it further and expand on the experience established by its original title, Kena: Bridge of Spirits.
Although it is confirmed for release next year, a specific date has not been revealed. However, Ember Lab shared a closer look at the game’s development so far, including an overview of its story.
What can PS5 owners expect from Kena: Scars of Kosmora once it is out?
Players will find Kena to be an older, more experienced Spirit Guide in this game. She travels to the mysterious island of Kosmora in search of a cure for her affliction and to reconnect with a friend from her past. The story then takes a different turn when she discovers the island is home to buried secrets.
Similar to Bridge of Spirits, the game is a character-focused linear adventure. Ember Lab states that the new game will have a broader scope than its prequel while maintaining its focus on exploration, combat, and story.
It will introduce elemental Spirit Companions that assist the protagonist during combat and while solving puzzles. These companions will grow over time, gaining more abilities that can help players explore the island.
The eponymous island also has four interconnected cultures, each guided by one of the four elements, as well as complex Alchemystic Temples that serve as challenge-filled dungeons. Another addition is a crystalline canine companion. It aids Kena in combat, both on foot and while mounted, and helps her solve puzzles as well.
Players can now wishlist the game on the PlayStation Store, with the exact release date yet to be announced.
