MUMBAI: Thirty-four years after helping shape India’s media and entertainment landscape, Zee Entertainment Enterprises is looking to its next chapter with a focus on scale, profitability and emerging opportunities across entertainment.
As it marks its 34th anniversary, the company said it is strengthening its business architecture by combining its legacy capabilities with investments in content, technology and talent. The objective is to build a future-ready organisation that can engage consumers across platforms and capture a larger share of the evolving attention economy.
ZEE said changing consumption habits and the convergence of entertainment platforms are creating new opportunities to build unified experiences for audiences while offering brands more avenues to engage consumers.
Speaking about the company’s strategic direction, Zee Entertainment Enterprises CEO Punit Goenka said the company was carrying its pioneering legacy forward while sharpening its priorities around disciplined growth.
“At ‘Z’, our journey has been one of pioneering spirit, continuous innovation and creating meaningful value for our consumers, shareholders, employees and partners,” Goenka said.
He added that the company is investing in capabilities across content, technology and talent to strengthen its competitive position, while focusing on greater discipline in building the business.
ZEE said its growth strategy is guided by the vision of bringing about positive change in people’s lives through purposeful entertainment. The company is also focusing on governance, internal processes and capital allocation as it seeks to build a more agile and resilient organisation.
Its growth levers include sharper content offerings across languages, continued profitability in the digital business and a stronger movies and music portfolio.
The company is also advancing its omni-channel strategy, which it said enables it to reach more than 800 million monthly unique viewers across India. Other focus areas include short-form content and micro dramas, sports, live entertainment, kids and animated content, as well as greater synergies across syndication, distribution and broadband.
ZEE said its digital business continues to be supported by a seven-language strategy, bold storytelling and a transformed user interface. The company is also looking to build on its sports portfolio through global and local properties.
Alongside its growth initiatives, the company said it is streamlining operational efficiencies and strengthening its human capital. It is focusing on greater accountability across teams and developing capabilities required to operate in an increasingly competitive entertainment market.
Over the past three decades, ZEE has expanded across television, digital entertainment, movies, music and other segments while adapting to changes in consumer behaviour and technology.
The company said its diversified business architecture, content capabilities and technology investments provide multiple avenues for future growth as it seeks to strengthen its position in India’s entertainment ecosystem and expand its global reach.
As it enters its 35th year, ZEE said it remains focused on building scale, strengthening its competitive advantage and creating sustainable value for its stakeholders.
