Crowdfunding Spotlight: The Arts of Eddie Campbell
Moonage Books is running currently running a Kickstarter for the first ever art book from top indie comic creator Eddie Campbell, creator of Alec and co-creator of From Hell with Alan Moore.
This new book, which includes a new and unpublished autobiographical story, has already smashed its target, but there’s still plenty of time to back it.
Mostly known for Bacchus, Alec and his work on From Hell, with Alan Moore, Eddie Campbell is widely recognised as an artist and cartoonist whose work has shaped the evolution of modern graphic storytelling. His contributions to comics have earned him numerous industry awards, including the Eisner Award, the Harvey Award, the Ignatz Award, the Eagle Award, and the UK Comic Art Award.
The Arts of Eddie Campbell, Comicker is a brand new 116-page book from Nick Neocleous‘ Moonage Books. It’s compiled and written by Eddie himself “in 10,000 fresh words of witty blather and keen insight into the making of comics from one who has made ’em for 50 years”.
This new book is being offered in both softcover and as a Hardback Special Editior with 16 extra pages of strips art, including strips, paintings and From Hellcharacter studies, – and there are plenty of bonus Extra Art Cards available, too.
The Arts of Eddie Campbell, Comicker contains 10,000 fresh words of witty blather and keen insight into the making of comics; full-page unpublished redraws of From Hell scenes; a ew and unpublished autobiographical story; rare arts, including pencil sketches; comics pages newly edited and coloured for this book, including a complete Bacchus story; excerpts from painted comics, shot from original art; and painted covers revealed without titles and copy.
PublisherNick Neocleous has collected comics his entire life. He published the comics fanzine Graphic Eye and, more recently, three issues of his own comic Strange-Weird. His Moonage Books publishing imprint focuses on the comic book world, and, over the past two years he has published the books Secrets Of The Unknown…Alan Class, Light and Dark: The Art of Lee Elias and the Creepy Worlds Hardback Annual, along with the comics Creepy Worlds issue 250 and Secrets of the Unknown issue 250.
He has also worked on many trading card sets, including Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, Vampirella, Doctor Who, The Prisoner, X-Men Archives, and many more.

John is the founder of downthetubes, launched in 1998. He is a comics and magazine editor, writer, and Press Officer for the Lakes International Comic Art Festival. He also runs Crucible Comic Press.
Working in British comics publishing since the 1980s, his credits include editor of titles such as Doctor Who MagazineandOverkill for Marvel UK, Babylon 5 Magazine, Star Trek Magazine, and its successor, Star Trek Explorer, and more. He also edited the comics anthology STRIP Magazine and edited several audio comics for ROK Comics; and has edited several comic collections and graphic novels, including volumes of “Charley’s War” and “Dan Dare”, and Hancock: The Lad Himself, by Stephen Walsh and Keith Page.
He’s the writer of comics such as Pilgrim: Secrets and Lies for B7 Comics; “Crucible”, a creator-owned project with 2000AD artist Smuzz; and “Death Duty” and “Skow Dogs”, with Dave Hailwood.
