Calif. (KRON) — Marshawn Lynch was home in Oakland launching his new comic book, “Beast Mode 510.”
“Feel good for the community,” Lynch said about launching the book in Oakland and setting the story in the city.
Lynch is part of the Oakland Roots’ ownership group. He was celebrating the new book ahead of one of the team’s final games at the Oakland Coliseum.
“It feels good for them to come out and support the Roots, too, so we don’t want to take away from that,” Lynch said about the fans who came out. “But for this first graphic novel, it feels good. It’s a blessing.”
The book’s title, “Beast Mode 510,” is inspired by Lynch’s brand and the city of Oakland. His team approached AWA Studios about making the book.
“And I leaped on it,” said AWA Chief Creative Officer Axel Alonso. “I loved the idea.”
Alonso is from the Bay Area and wanted to incorporate that part of Lynch’s history into the story.
“We can take Marshawn — he’s an amazing character, fierce but very lovable — and make him a hero for Oakland,” Alonso said. “He’s Oakland’s protector.”
In the book, Lynch is a freelance detective who solves problems, for free, that no one else will touch.
He spent the afternoon talking about the book and connecting with fans of all ages.
The book comes out Oct. 6, 2026.
