ATG Entertainment’s regional restructure set to impact ‘small number’ of roles

ATG Entertainment has embarked on a restructure of its regional teams, which is set to place a ‘small number of roles’ across the marketing, community and ticketing teams in consultation.

A spokesperson for the leading live entertainment company and theatre owner said the changes are being made as the organisation looks to “further strengthen” its model.

ATG Entertainment, which owns 38 regional venues across the UK, was acquired by global events company Mari in August.

The spokesperson said: “As we look to further strengthen our operating model and drive the next phase of growth across the business, we are reviewing team structures to ensure they are focused on delivering maximum impact.

“As a result of these proposed changes, a small number of roles across our marketing, community and ticketing teams have been placed in consultation.”

Regional venues owned by ATG Entertainment include Edinburgh Playhouse, the Palace Theatre in Manchester, Swansea Arena and King’s Theatre in Glasgow.

    ‘Sharing learnings across venues’

The company carried out a senior restructure earlier this year that impacted a “small number” of employees across its entire operation.

In an email to staff attributed to ATG Entertainment’s UK CEO Fraga Ghica, more specific proposals were outlined, including organising marketing activities “around tours, rather than original venues”

The email reportedly said: “This will allow us to make better use of the technology, data and insight we have invested over recent years, sharing learnings across venues more systematically and better understanding how spend drives ticket sales across all shows, venues and tours.

“Moreover, as most marketing spend already sits with national suppliers (eg, Google, Meta, JCDecaux), consolidating that buy at a national level and leveraging insights across the whole venue portfolio will benefit every show we market, be it touring or not.”

Mari, which also owns TodayTix, acquired ATG Entertainment for an undisclosed sum, though the Financial Times claimed the deal may have been worth around £4.5 billion.

At the time, a statement from Mari said: “Across ATG’s regional network, Mari’s ambition is to build on the role these venues play in their communities, creating new opportunities for local artists and broadening access to live theatre.

“ATG will continue under its existing brand and leadership and retain its commitment to creative independence.”
