Media and entertainment group, Banijay Entertainment, today announces it has acquired the global rights to French-Canadian dating format, Temptations Under the Sun. Expanding the group’s strategy-led reality-dating portfolio, the title is a spin-off of Canada’s longest-running reality romance show Occupation Double, which has aired for more than 20 years.
Created by Productions J, the French version, OD: Tentations au soleil, delivered Crave, home of Heated Rivalry, its strongest Canadian original debut of 2024, while the English-language version, Temptations Under the Sun, broke into its top five following its August premiere. Set in a sun-drenched paradise, contestants navigate attraction and strategy, competing in seductive challenges to earn points and bid for exclusive advantages. New arrivals, partner switches and unexpected twists test connections before official couples form and points become a powerful weapon to eliminate rivals. In a dramatic finale, ousted contestants return to deliver the ultimate verdict, crowning the winning pair who claim an impressive cash prize.
Helen Greatorex, Head of Format Acquisitions, Banijay Entertainment, says: “We’re seeing an increased demand for high-volume reality, and with its blend of attraction and strategy, Temptations Under the Sun is the ideal format to sustain strong storytelling across multiple episodes. It transforms the search for love into a high-stakes game of risk and reward, while reflecting the shifting dynamics of modern dating. Distinctive and scalable, it offers producers worldwide a format built for local adaptation.”
Julie Snyder, President, Productions J, adds:“Temptations Under the Sun takes everything viewers love about Occupation Double– bold personalities, evolving connections and unforgettable twists – and builds it into an even sharper tactical game. Its performance on Crave demonstrates how strongly viewers have embraced that evolution, and we are proud to partner with Banijay Entertainment to take the format beyond Canada.”
