It’s that time again!
Contender Series is back with 10 straight weeks of mixed martial arts (MMA) action, streaming at 7 p.m. ET TONIGHT (Tues., Sept. 22, 2026) on Paramount+.
In the main event, former Bellator Middleweight standout, Norbert Novenyi Jr. (10-1), takes on Theo Haig(7-1), who is returning for a second chance at a contract. The co-main sees undefeated killers collide as Jaden Ortega (6-0) fights Alvi Dasuyev (9-0). In the “Featured” bout, top Flyweight, Marcos Degli(14-3), hooks ‘em up with Paris Moran (14-3). Undefeated Lightweights go at it as Peru’s Piero Guaylupo (11-0) fights Callum Connor (8-0). Finally, Light Heavyweights kickoff the card as Damian Piwowarczyk (11-0) takes on Emilio Quissua (8-0).

What is the origin of your username here on MMA Mania?
Mine is pretty obvious. And, honestly, I can’t remember the tag I used before I started writing at SBNation some ten years ago. Elsewhere I use the tag ‘timespyre’ mostly because it’s not taken anywhere and I kinda hate putting numbers and underscores into things. And I like it because it’s not clear if it means time spyre (like spire) or time’s pyre. And it’s got Tim in it.
I’ve probably used Timbo Slice somewhere, too…

“In Sept. 2023, McCracken was out for a run near his home in Liverpool, England, when he crossed the road with his headphones playing at full volume. He never heard the bus driver sounding the horn.
The bus slammed into McCracken and dragged him approximately 60 feet (or 18 meters) along the road before finally coming to a stop. Witnesses found him unconscious behind the bus and initially believed he was dead.”
