Fortnite’s regular slew of updates and collabs has a big event on the horizon, with the start date of this year’s Fortnitemares rapidly approaching.
Epic Games‘ annual Halloween event is one of the most anticipated dates in the calendar for Fortnite fans, providing a major mix-up to the existing season with new collabs, weapons, POIs, and more.

When Does Fortnitemares 2026 Start in Fortnite?
Epic Games has not publicly announced the start date for the 2026 Fortnitemares event, but the schedule of Fortnite updates has hinted towards an expected date.
Fortnite’s regular two-week update cycle is well established, and the next date for an update is October 1, which is expected to be when Fortnitemares begins.

The annual Halloween event always begins at the start of October, and given that the next update after the aforementioned date is October 15, it looks pretty concrete that the first day of the month will be the start of the event.
Last year’s event began on October 9, while 2024’s event began on October 12. Earlier events in Fortnite’s lifespan had a later release, but the event has been extended in recent years.
When Does Fortnitemares 2026 End in Fortnite?
Similar to the start date, no end date for the Fortnitemares event in 2026 has been confirmed, but again, the Fortnite update cycle hints at a date.
Fortnitemares 2026 is expected to be live for the remainder of the season when it launches later this month, and the current season is coming to an end on November 1.
That is when the expected mini-season focused on One Piece is slated to arrive, which will serve as the conclusion to Chapter 7 before a new Chapter kicks off in December.

Last year’s Fortnitemares event had the same duration, running from a launch date of October 9 through to the end of the season, which was followed by The Simpsons mini-season.
