Diego Luna compares his new directorial film with ‘Star Wars’ fandom
Diego Luna, though, has multiple hit credits under his belt. However, none comes close to the Star Wars spinoff Andor, where he starred as Cassian.
As he directs his new movie, Ashes, he contrasts it with his hit series.
In his view, for his latest directorial film, he has to get people to watch, but that is not the case with Andor.
“With ‘Star Wars’, it’s a different story,” he said, while comparing his latest directed movie with the sci-fi universe.
With a massive cultural presence, Luna said, “It’s the other way around. You come home, and something reminds you it’s already there.”
He continued, “There is a level of attention, sure, but that becomes affection and a sense of companionship.”
The actor added, “It’s really lovely, and it spans generations. You encounter it in so many places and from so many angles: affection from people discovering it for the first time and from others revisiting something that unlocks their childhood memories.”
In short, Luna shared that it is a once-in-a-career experience, adding, “It’s an experience I can’t compare to anything else, and it’s unlikely it’ll happen to me again.”
Andor has two seasons and is highly regarded by critics and audiences alike.
