Kate Beckinsale has sparked concern with a series of cryptic Instagram posts.

The Underworld actress wiped all of the photos and videos from her social media account and left just one image on there, the word ‘bye’ in white lettering against a black backdrop, which appeared to be a screenshot from another post as it had like, comment and share count icons in the bottom corner.

Kate disabled comments on the post and didn’t add a caption.

And on her Instagram Story, the 54-year-old star shared an image of a rainbow at the end of a street. She wrote over the photo: “Congratulations you won. I give up.”

Kate also updated her Instagram bio to share a link to a 2020 BBC article questioning if people online would “be kind” in the wake of the suicide of presenter Caroline Flack.

She has since deleted both the post on her grid and the one on her Instagram Story.

Last month, she hit out at the body-shaming comments she had received in the wake of the death of her mum Judy Loe.

Kate shared a comment that read: “Loosen up the Ozempic! You were divine now you look anorexic!”

She then responded by posting a since-deleted 13-part video where she discussed living with the rare autoimmune condition mast cell activation syndrome and how she has also suffered the loss of her stepfather Roy Battersby in January 2024.

Kate said: “As I’m sure you’re aware, anytime I post a photo of myself, I receive an enormous amount of comments telling me how disgusting I look and I’m anorexic or I’m on meth or that I’ve lost so much weight.”

She added: “First off, I’ve lost my entire family, except my precious daughter, in a short amount of time.

“The second thing is, I have a condition, which is an autoimmune condition called mast cell activation syndrome, and there’s another one called mast cell disease, and there’s mastocytosis.

“This is something I was diagnosed with 16 years ago, and I was really, really lucky that I had an amazing GP in London who called it and sent me to, at that point, the one guy in the world in New Jersey who was the expert in that.”

She stressed that it is vital to remember we “don’t know what’s going on in people’s lives” as she highlighted recent incidents such as celebrity gossip blogger Perez Hilton’s self-harming and pop star Ariana Grande’s decision to step away from the spotlight when her tour ends next month.

Kate said: “Treat people just how you’d like to be treated yourself, give people a little grace. If you don’t have anything nice to say, maybe don’t say anything.

“It’s not necessary for everyone to know your opinion on what somebody else’s body looks like.

“You don’t want to be the last straw for somebody, you don’t want to be the thing that makes them sicker, just keep going, it’s not hard.”
