The trailer for Gladiators, a documentary on actor Ajith Kumar’s love for motorsport and his journey as a professional racer, has been released. AL Vijay’s documentary looks at the actor’s life beyond cinema and his experiences on some of the world’s most challenging racing circuits, as well as the determination that has kept him connected to motorsport.
The trailer is almost four minutes long and features clips of Ajith’s racing appearances at events like Le Mans and the Dubai 24H, as well as the physical and mental challenges of endurance racing.

Ajith Kumar speaks on the demands of racing
In the trailer, Ajith explains how motorsport is much more than speed and spectacle. He talks of the need for discipline, accuracy, calculated risks and the ability to make decisions in fractions of a second.
The documentary then takes viewers behind the scenes of his racing career, showing the tracks, cars and intense moments that have shaped his career.
There are several sequences that also portray the risks involved in the sport, including crashes that Ajith has had in his racing career.
Shalini makes an infrequent appearance
One of the highlights of the trailer is the rare appearance of Ajith’s wife, Shalini Ajith Kumar, who gives a personal perspective on the actor- racer.
“People know him as an actor but those close to him have seen his determination to follow whatever dreams and interests that matter to him,” says Shalini.
“His approach to racing, he has never seemed afraid to fail, and never expected success to come instantly,” she says.
Shalini also shares her feelings while watching him run. While she knows she gets nervous whenever Ajith is on the track, she says she wants to support him in doing something he is so passionate about.
Anoushka and Aadvik talk about their perspective
The documentary also features Ajith and Shalini’s children, Anoushka and Aadvik, giving viewers a glimpse into the actor’s life as a father.
Anoushka says she looks up to her father not just for his professional success, but for the values he has embedded in her.
Meanwhile, Aadvik remembers getting the chance to sit inside his father’s race car and being amazed at how Ajith manages to operate in such a compact space.
They bring a more personal side to the documentary, which otherwise is about Ajith’s high-speed racing career.
Ajith: Between racing and movies
Along with acting, Ajith is now devoting more time to racing. In the past, the actor has talked about putting motorsport first in the racing seasons and fitting his film work around it.
His last films were Vidaamuyarchi, directed by Magizh Thirumeni and Good Bad Ugly, directed by Adhik Ravichandran, both released in 2025.
He is also set to make a comeback to the big screen with Dare Devil, another collaboration with Adhik Ravichandran. The film is due to go into production in November.
Adhik Ravichandran hails Gladiators
Adhik Ravichandran also shared the trailer on social media and praised Ajith’s dedication, patience, consistency and never-say-die attitude.
“Gladiators is a documentary on Ajith’s vision and determination,” said the filmmaker. He added that the project will give audiences a special experience.
Gladiators has not yet received an official release date. The documentary, with rare family moments and footage from Ajith’s racing career, is expected to give fans a different perspective of the actor, away from his cinematic image.
