I Am Your Beast VR Kept the Gunfights and Left the Tree Climbing on the Thumbstick

The flat original, I Am Your Beast, came out on September 10, 2024, and holds an Overwhelmingly Positive rating on Steam from 5,502 positive reviews out of 5,630. Its store page describes the structure plainly: more than 20 levels built as “replayable micro-sandboxes,” each one meant to be run again, faster. Strange Scaffold is the development label of Xalavier Nelson Jr.

    Who built the port

This is the second game from Flat2VR Spark. Flat2VR announced the label at the VR Games Showcase on August 12, 2025, and its launch release calls it “a creator first label that partners world-class talent with Flat2VR’s publishing muscle to ship official, fully licensed VR adaptations.” The arrangement is simple. A small team, which Flat2VR calls a pod, builds the port. Flat2VR handles licensing, QA and platform certification. The pod gets credit and a share of the revenue, and the original studio keeps its IP.

That is a different deal from the hobby modding this scene grew out of. The first Spark release was FlatOut 4: Total Insanity VR, which Evan could not stop playing when it reached early access in May. Beast VR was headed down the same road. In June, UploadVR reported that it “hits SteamVR in Early Access later in <a href="https://comicvibe.com/5-best-animated-movies-of-2026-so-far/” title=”5 Best Animated Movies Of 2026 (So Far)”>2026.” It skipped that step. Thursday’s release is a full 1.0.

    What made the trip

The gunfights did. Mike Johnson played it on a Quest 3 through Virtual Desktop for UploadVR’s review in progress, the only critic review out so far, and the detail he singles out is a design rule rather than a feature: “there is no reloading in this game. When a weapon runs out of ammo, simply chuck it at an enemy so it still has some use, pick up their dropped weapon, and keep it moving.”
