Critical Role’s Laura Bailey & Travis Willingham share their favorite Dispatch lines

Laura Bailey couldn’t repeat her favorite Dispatch line at Comic-Con. Blame the Sour Patch Kids.

    Popverse’s top stories

    – Jason Momoa cast himself in Street Fighter

    – Daniel Warren Johnson turned down DC’s Absolute Batman for Transformers, and somehow everyone won

    – Oh yeah, Critical Role’s Sam Riegel has considered playing a Kobold… and making an all-Kobold game

Sure, everybody knows Critical Role’s Laura Bailey and Travis Willingham for the work in the fantasy space. But even if you weren’t aware of their previous superhero work (such as Mary Jane Watson and Superman, respectively), 2025 almost certainly changed that with its release of the comic book satire Dispatch. As the characters of Invisigal and Phenomaman, Bailey and Willingham had some of the greatest moments in a game full of ’em, and at a recent appearance, they got into which ones stuck with them the most.

Both Bailey and Willingham were guests at San Diego Comic Con 2026, where the The Legend of Vox Machina voice actors attended an hour long Dispatch panel. Hosted by fellow Dispatch voice actor Erin Yvette (AKA Blonde Blazer), the panel had each attending cast member go over their favorite lines from recording the game.

“I liked in the early game tutorial,” said Willingham, “Saying, ‘Oh look, another subscribber.'”

Bailey’s favorite line, meanwhile, was a little bit harder to say. Not because she couldn’t remember – the voice actor had her answer pretty quickly – but because SDCC is a family event, and as such, no swearing was allowed.

“I cuss in mine,” said Campaign 4’s Thimble, “You can’t say the word. But I love it because we went back and forth with what candy to go with – we recorded so many different types of candy, but we ended up on, ‘I love Sour Patch Kids.'”

For context, reader, Bailey is talking about a moment in the game that happens if you choose to romance her character. In this particular gamepath, you find yourself sitting next to Invisigal in a movie theater, offering the former villain candy. The candy in question was apparently a contested decision in development, but we’d argue the game developers very happy with what they landed on.

If you don’t believe us, look up the uncensored line for yourself.

With two animated series on Prime Video, Campaign 4 in full swing, and so much more Exandrian lore to come, Critical Role is showing no signs of slowing down. That’s why the adventuring party at Popverse are here to bring you everything we can from those nerdy-ass voice actors & Bo., including:

    • Critical Role release schedule
    • Critical Role’s Campaign 4 characters ranked
    • How to watch Critical Role in order
    • Ways for you to relive the Critical Role panel from ECCC ’26
    • Taliesin Jaffe on playing Mollymauk Tealeaf for Campaign 2 vs. playing him for Prime Video
    • Matt Mercer’s homebrew warrior class (created originally for Vin Diesel)

…and much, much more. Roll initiative, player. Magic awaits.
