According to multiple photos shared across social media, Emilio Estevez and Charlie Sheen reunited at the recent Fan Expo in Dallas to celebrate the anniversary of the 1988 Western film,Young Guns, which they both starred in.
Also attending the event were fellow Young Guns cast members Kiefer Sutherland, Lou Diamond Phillips, Terry O’Quinn, Dermot Mulroney and Casey Siemaszko, all of whom similarly posed with the duo in a variety of colorful photos.
A cult favorite Western project that offers a largely fictionalized portrayal of the life of infamous outlaw Billy the Kid, Young Guns follows the early stages of the bandit’s career as he joins a group of outcast young men battling a profit-hungry cattle baron.
Debuting in theaters in 1988, Young Guns earned mostly mixed reviews at the time of its release, with many praising the performances (most especially Estevez’s role as Billy the Kid) while remaining critical of the movie’s many historical inaccuracies.
Nevertheless, it has since achieved a favorable status among dedicated fans, even paving the way to a 1992 sequel, Young Guns II, with Estevez, Sutherland and Phillips reprising their roles.
One of the rare mainstream films the brothers starred in together, Estevez and Sheen also starred in a handful of other cult films throughout their careers, including the 1983 comedy Men at Work and 2000’s Rated X.
The brothers also appeared on-screen together in their earliest on-screen debut, the 1973 thriller Badlands, starring their famous father Martin Sheen.
In their photos together, many fans pointed out the two stars’ uncanny resemblance to one another, with Estevez in particular appearing to closely resemble their father Martin.
“Damn, Emilio is really looking like Martin,” one fan said of the actor’s appearance on Reddit. “I wouldn’t mind a West Wing reboot right about now.”
