New Doctor Who Magazine features Anneke Wills interview, new comic strip
The latest issue of Doctor Who Magazine, Issue 634, is on sale today in newsagents, select supermarkets and Local Comic Shops, leading with an interview with Anneke Wills, who first played companion, Polly, in the 1960s.
The interview appears following Anneke’s decision to retire from public events.

Anneke Wills began acting professionally while still in her teens, appearing on television before she had even left school. By the time she arrived in Doctor Who in 1966, she already had several years of film and television work behind her.
Her best-known role came as Polly, companion to William Hartnell’s Doctor, remaining through the programme’s transition to Patrick Troughton. Away from the TARDIS, her work included The Likely Lads and The Saint, before she took a regular role in Strange Report towards the end of the decade.
In Some People (1962), Wills appeared alongside Kenneth More, Ray Brooks and David Hemmings in a film centred around teenagers, motorbikes and music. The film caught the emerging youth culture of the early Sixties, with Wills herself only 20 when it was released.

Arthur Darvill played Rory Williams, the devoted fiancé and later husband of Amy Pond and a companion of the Eleventh Doctor, in Doctor Who from 2010 to 2012. He reprised the character in his own audio series, The Lone Centurion, which began in 2021. Darvill has voiced other characters in several different Big Finish ranges, including playing the titular scientist in adaptation of Frankenstein. His other notable TV roles include Legends of Tomorrow and Broadchurch, and onstage, he won an Olivier Award for his performance in the West End revival of Oklahoma!.
Alex Kingston and Arthur Darvill are set to reprise their respective roles of River Song and Rory in The Death and Life of River Song: River and Rory from Big Finish Productions, due for release in January 2027. The series will see River reunited with her father Rory in a quartet of timey-wimey adventures set between Doctor Who episodes The Wedding of River Song and Asylum of the Daleks.
