SBC and GHASBO partnered to boost Ghanaian operator input at the African Gaming Forum on 30 September in Lisbon. GHASBO will share local perspectives on business realities and contribute to SBC Media coverage of Ghana’s market. The event gathers regulators and executives from multiple African jurisdictions for talks on regulation and expansion.

SCCG Take — The arrangement embeds Ghana-specific operator experience into continental forums, sharpening regulatory and commercial discussions for markets at similar development stages.

SBC and the Ghana Association of Sports Betting Operators (GHASBO) have announced a strategic partnership to increase Ghanaian operator participation at the African Gaming Forum 2026. As the agreement brings local market expertise into event discussions and extends GHASBO contributions to ongoing SBC Media coverage of Ghana’s gaming sector

The partnership positions GHASBO to supply operator viewpoints on issues affecting licensed businesses in the market. GHASBO operates around three core pillars: player protection, sustainability and regulated gaming. It joins a network of African bodies already backing the Forum, including the Gaming Regulators Africa Forum (GRAF).

Rasmus Sojmark, Founder and CEO of SBC, said: “If we want the African Gaming Forum to reflect the realities of doing business across the continent, we need the people operating in those markets to be part of the conversation. GHASBO brings exactly that perspective. Its members understand the opportunities, pressures and day-to-day realities of Ghana’s betting market, and their involvement will help ensure those experiences are represented in Lisbon. Just as importantly, it gives us another opportunity to connect Ghana’s operator community with peers, regulators and industry leaders from across Africa and beyond.”

Dr Kobby Boateng, President of GHASBO, said: “Partnerships like this are incredibly important to us, not only because they provide greater visibility for Ghana’s gaming industry, but because they connect our leading operators with the wider global gaming community.”

    Confirmed Participants and Forum Focus

The invite-only African Gaming Forum occurs on Wednesday, 30 September at the Myriad Hotel in Lisbon. It assembles operators, regulators, associations and senior stakeholders for targeted talks on commercial, regulatory and operational developments across African gaming markets.

Dr Kobby Boateng will appear alongside a confirmed lineup that includes Emmanuel Siisi Quainoo, Acting Commissioner of the Gaming Commission of Ghana; Lungile Dukwana, CEO of South Africa’s National Gambling Board; Simon Gregory, CEO of SunBet; Jason Gibson, CPO of SportPesa; Alexandre Paque, CEO of Elephant Bet; Peter Post Lundsgaard, CEO Africa at 21.com; Sean Coleman, CEO of the South African Bookmakers Association; Bashir Are, CEO of the Lagos State Lotteries and Gaming Authority and John Mutua, CEO of the Association of Gaming Operators Kenya.

Sessions will address market entry and expansion, evolving regulatory frameworks, taxation, responsible gambling and opportunities in both established and developing markets. The Forum runs alongside SBC Summit 2026 from 29 September to 1 October and is projected to draw 40,000 industry professionals to the Feira Internacional de Lisboa and MEO Arena.

    Where Ghanaian Operator Input Fits

Direct participation from groups such as GHASBO ensures the Forum incorporates specific experiences from Ghana’s betting operators rather than general regional assumptions. This input aligns the agenda with actual pressures and opportunities in one of the continent’s active regulated markets, sharpening focus on practical steps for sustainability and compliance.
