Roblox® is one of the world’s most popular online gaming platforms, with tens of millions of users, many of them children under the age of 13. However, lawsuits allege that inadequate safety measures have allowed predators to use the platform to contact, groom, and sexually exploit young users.
Families claim that predators have been able to pose as children, communicate with young users, and move conversations from Roblox to other platforms. Lawsuits allege that Roblox knew about these risks but failed to put adequate safeguards in place to protect children.
Roblox litigation continues to grow, with families across the country filing claims and multiple state attorneys general taking legal action against the company over child safety concerns.
Ricky LeBlanc, a Roblox sexual assault attorney at Sokolove Law, shares more about the lawsuits, how families may be able to take Roblox legal action, and what parents should know about seeking justice and compensation for their children.
Q: Is there a lawsuit against Roblox?
A: There are currently many lawsuits against Roblox. The Roblox online game has been accused of allowing predators to monitor children using the game, groom them, and sexually exploit them. Nearly 200 families at this point have filed claims against Roblox.
In addition to that, there are at least 11 states that have filed claims. Those claims are brought by the attorneys general in those states. As the highest law enforcement officer in the state, their job is to protect the public, including our children.
Q: Why is Roblox getting sued?
A: In simple terms, the issue is that Roblox has tens of millions of users. Many of them are under the age of 13. It’s designed that way. The complaint that is being made by parents and others is that the company that owns Roblox has not put in place appropriate safeguards to prevent predators from preying on our children.
There is little to no age verification requirement. Not only does it mean our children are using the game, it means that adults can pose as children. They can learn more about users, find out which ones are vulnerable, and then move our children off Roblox and onto other modes of communication such as Discord®, texting, even telephone calls.
Roblox knew that this was a risk. They knew that predators could use this platform for this purpose, and put no safeguards in place to prevent it.
There’s even been one case where a predator has allegedly paid an Uber driver over $1,000 to go pick up a young user of the game to bring him to their home to be abused.
Q: How do families file a lawsuit against Roblox?
A: Well, the first thing you do is reach out to an attorney who handles such cases. In doing so, there will be a free evaluation.
The attorneys or their staff will speak with the impacted family. They will discuss the harm that has occurred to their child. They will look at the facts around the child’s use of the game and review any communications the child may have had with any predator.
The most important thing to remember is that calling is free. Speaking with an attorney to figure out whether you have a case is free. But the first thing you do is pick up the phone and call.
After you’ve called and our staff reviews the facts and determines there is aretain experts, and investigate what occurred
You pay nothing unless we recover for you. We work on a contingency-fee basis, meaning we get paid contingent upon you being paid. Either way, this is ano-risk situation for you and your family.
Q: How many states are suing Roblox?
A: First, I want to be clear that while there are states suing Roblox and many others that are evaluating the option to do so, those are completely separate from the individual cases that we are handling on behalf of families who have been harmed by predators using Roblox as a gateway to their children.
At least 11 states through their attorneys general have already filed claims against Roblox, including Louisiana, Texas, Nebraska, Florida, Iowa, Tennessee, Kentucky, Oklahoma, and Arkansas. These states are claiming that Roblox falsely markets itself as a safe product for children to use, when Roblox itself knew that predators were using the platform to take advantage of our children.
The attorneys general, as the top law enforcement agents of the state, are really making a claim that Roblox knew they had a dangerous product and did nothing to prevent harm to our children. The number 1 job of law enforcement is to protect the most vulnerable citizens, especially children.
Q: What happens if Roblox loses the lawsuit?
A: Well, it’s multi-layered. First, if Roblox loses, it means they must pay compensation to the families harmed. Paying compensation for a corporation oftentimes leads to them taking action to prevent such harm from happening again.
So, the hope here is that our families will be compensated appropriately for the life-changing and probably lifelong impact that this sexual harm has done to them, but also that Roblox will take the necessary measures that they are fully capable of taking to help prevent these harms in the future.
More broadly, any compensation that Roblox is required to pay will send a ripple effect throughout the social media and online community, so other corporations with similar websites will also take measures to safeguard against harm to our children.
Q: How much are potential Roblox lawsuit settlement amounts per person?
A: Frankly, litigation is too much in its infancy to make any determination about the amount each family could receive from a Roblox settlement. The harms are different in each case, so the value of the claims will be different.
But more important than the amount of recovery is the issue that’s before us, which is the number of children who are being groomed and sexually exploited online as a result of Roblox and its inaction in preventing predators from using the platform for that purpose.
Each individual has had a different trauma. The facts may be the same in the story of how a predator has used Roblox to gain access to the child, but the damage to each child is unique, and therefore compensation will be unique. Some will need more therapy. Some will need medication. Some may have a longer history of treatment.
The first step in determining the value of any case is a phone call. You call us. We will review your facts. As time goes on, we’ll have a better understanding of the value of the claim.
Q: What is the latest Roblox lawsuit update?
A: Today, there are at least 177 families who have made claims in what’s called an MDL, or multidistrict litigation. That’s more than doubled since the beginning of 2026.
Additionally, some of the state cases have actually been resolved, which has already improved some of the safety features of Roblox. There is also some talk that there have been early settlement negotiations with regard to the cases that are currently in the MDL.
What is important to understand is the sooner you’re in the litigation, meaning the sooner you call us for an evaluation, the better positioned you will be to participate in any such recovery.
