Mejeko, acting as a stand-in for animator Yasuda Gensho, decides she wants to set off fireworks in Tokyo and begins walking around town looking for a suitable location. As a personal rule, I’m forbidden from looking things up online, and only allowed to look things up when I’m actually there. With this restriction in mind, I head out to each possible location. After successfully acquiring fireworks and a bucket, I thought my search for a location would go smoothly, but…? There’s an unexpected twist, so please watch until the very end.
This series is delightful because it shows the animated character Mejeko blending naturally into a live-action city as she walks around. In this installment as well, she moves around freely and naturally within the live-action world. Otonose Kanade – GREATEST (Official MV)

It depicts the interaction between a young Kanade Otonose and a more mature Kanade Otonose dressed as a train conductor. Young Kanade Otonose’s eyes light up as she is led to a landscape she has never seen before.
Because the story is told from the perspective of a young Kanade Otonose, it’s not entirely clear what kind of being the mature Kanade Otonose who leads the reader into this fantasy world actually is. Before she knows it, everything is just as usual. The young Kanade Otonose is bewildered by this dreamlike experience, but the ribbon in her hair tells us that it was real.
In the climax, Otonose Kanade sings “We’ll definitely become invincible” with such powerful voice that it seems to resonate to the heavens, conveying a strength that allows her to keep moving forward without looking back. Her energetic singing of lyrics that are refreshingly positive, such as “Chasing isn’t my hobby, let’s overtake tomorrow, I’m not sleepy enough to let it end as just a dream,” is like an unstoppable locomotive. The image of the two stepping into a world of infinite possibilities that surpasses even miracles is intertwined with the power of the song, making this an exhilarating and exciting film.
