Diablo 4 details resolution and frame rate on Nintendo Switch 2, plus other details

Posted on September 15, 2026 by Cris-(chito) in News, Switch 2

Diablo 4 is set to release on on Nintendo Switch 2 today, and with the launch we have received details on how the game runs on the console.

Diablo 4 has the options of a quality mode, and a performance mode, as that seems to be the standard for many games these days. Quality mode will be hitting 1080p at 30fps on handheld, and 1440p at 30fps in TV mode. As for performance mode, it will be 1080p at 40fps in handheld, and 1440p at 40fps in TV mode with a compatible display. HDR, and touchscreen support had also been previously confirmed.

Here’s some more information about the game on Nintendo Switch 2:

How does Diablo IV perform on Nintendo Switch 2?
Players can choose between two graphic settings:

30 fps at 1080p in handheld mode
30 fps at 1440p in docked mode

    Handheld: 40 FPS at 1080p
    Docked: 40 FPS at 1080p*

*Docked Performance Mode requires a compatible display with a refresh rate of 120Hz or higher.

Which Nintendo Switch 2 features does Diablo IV: Age of Hatred Collection support?
Diablo IV supports several Nintendo Switch 2 features:

Touchscreen controls: Navigate most menus, the map, and your inventory using the touchscreen. Joy-Con 2 mouse functionality is not supported.
Mouse and Keyboard: Connect a compatible mouse and keyboard via USB.
Controller Rumble: Feel the action through supported Controller rumble.
Accessibility features: Text-to-speech for the chat window, speech-to-text for voice chat, and Speak for Me, which converts text into speech in voice chat.
GameChat: Connect with friends through Nintendo Switch 2’s system-level GameChat functionality and share live gameplay scenes simultaneously.

Can I continue my progress across platforms?
Yes. Cross-progression allows you to access your progress across supported platforms, including Nintendo Switch 2. A Nintendo Switch Online membership is not required to use cross-progression.

Can I play with other friends on other platforms?
Yes. Cross-play allows Nintendo Switch 2 players to join friends and other players across supported platforms. An active Nintendo Switch Online membership is required for cross-play.

Can I play without a Nintendo Switch Online Membership?
Yes. Without a Nintendo Switch Online membership, you can still experience:

    • The campaign and side quests
    • Open-world activities
    • Couch co-op
    • The Tower and Leaderboards
    • Seasonal Ranks and season content

Diablo IV is an online game, so an internet connection is still required. Without a Nintendo Switch Online membership, you will not be able to join an online party, trade with other players, join a Clan, participate in PvP or encounter other players in the open world.

Will my purchases carry over between Nintendo Switch 2 and other platforms?
Cosmetics purchased or earned on Nintendo Switch 2 will be available across linked platforms. This also applies to Reliquary Battle Pass purchases and rewards.

Platinum earned through gameplay, including Platinum earned through the Battle Pass, will carry over between platforms. Platinum purchased on Nintendo Switch 2 will remain available only on Nintendo Switch 2.
