The Livingston Parish Library invites you to Book-Con, where the magic of literature meets the excitement of comic book culture in one unforgettable event!

Book-Con will be held from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 19, at the Main Branch in Livingston. This event is open to all ages, and there is no cost to attend.

The Livingston Parish Library’s Book-Con is a day-long celebration of books, literature, comic book culture, art, and Livingston Parish!

This event will combine the best of two beloved library traditions — Book Festival and Comic Con — into a single, unified experience.

Attendees can look forward to engaging local author discussions, book signings, special storytime programs, a cosplay contest, food trucks, a vendor’s market, and a host of family-friendly activities, including balloon twisting, games, crafts, escape rooms, and more.

The official event vendors for Book-Con are Cavalier House Books and Carpe Librum.

Visitors will be able to meet more than 40 local authors on Authors Row. These authors span nearly every genre and reading interest – romance, fantasy, historical fiction, cozy mysteries, children’s picture books, memoirs, and more!

Book-Con attendees will have the chance to meet the authors behind the books, hear the stories behind their stories, and pick up a signed copy to take home.

Additionally, Book-Con will feature more than 30 local businesses and independent sellers offering everything from comic books, graphic novels, and pop culture collectibles to handmade art, crafts, and unique treasures you won’t find anywhere else.

Whether you’re hunting for a rare find, a special gift, or something to add to your collection, there’s something waiting to surprise you.

You and your young readers are invited to a fun-filled Superhero Storytime featuring the Petite Princess Company!

Visitors will be treated to a few superhero-themed children’s books, followed by photo opportunities with their favorite costumed heroes! There will be two sessions, as follows:

    • 11:10 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. — Superhero Storytime (Session 1)
    • 11:35 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. — Superhero Photos (Session 1)
    • 12:10 p.m. – 12:30 p.m. — Superhero Storytime (Session 2)
    • 12:35 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. — Superhero Photos (Session 2)

Whether you’re a seasoned costumer or stepping into character for the first time, Book-Con’s Cosplay Contest is your chance to shine! Dress as your favorite character from anime, gaming, comics, movies, or any fandom close to your heart and compete for prizes while connecting with fellow fans.

The Cosplay Contest is open to all ages, and participants must register at Book-Con while space remains. Note: Children 17 years and younger must have parental consent.

There will be three contests, as follows:

    • 2:00 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. — Youth Contest (Ages 0-12)
    • 2:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. — Teen Contest (Ages 13-17)
    • 3:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. — Adult Contest (Ages 18+)

Public parking for Book-Con will be available at Doyle High School, located at 20480 Circle Drive, Livingston, LA 70754. A free shuttle service will travel through Doyle High School to take visitors to the Main Branch in Livingston. The shuttle service will run in 15-minute intervals.

Parking at the Main Branch in Livingston will be closed to the public except for those with handicap accessible parking permits.
