PlayStation ownersin the United States are in line for a small share of a $7.85 million settlement involving Sony’s sale of digital games. The settlement stems from a class-action lawsuit alleging thatSony unlawfully restricted competition by preventing other retailers from selling certain digital PlayStation game vouchers.
Sony’s move forced consumers to buy certain games through the PlayStation Store, the lawsuit alleges. Plaintiffs argue that the reduced competition resulted in customers paying inflated prices for select games, including Call of Duty Classic, EA SPORTS™ FIFA 17, Madden NFL 17 and NBA 2K18.

Although Sony denies the allegations, the company has agreed to pay $7.85 million to settle the lawsuit without admitting wrongdoing.

Who qualifies for the Sony PlayStation settlement?
You may be eligible for a share of the settlement if you live in the United States or any of its territories and bought one of the games included in the above list through the PlayStation Store between April 1, 2019, and Dec. 31, 2023.
If you meet the eligibility requirements and still have an active PlayStation Network account, there’sno need to submit a claim. You are automatically included in the settlement class. If the settlement receives final approval, your share will be credited to your PSN wallet.
People whose PSN accounts have been deactivated can contact the settlement administrator at the specified email address (info@PSNDigitalGamesSettlement.com) and provide qualifying purchase information. They will receive cash rather than PSN wallet credit.
How much will the Sony PlayStation settlement pay?
How much you will get hasn’t yet been determined and will depend on how much of the settlement goes toward attorneys’ fees, taxes and administrative expenses, as well as how many people are eligible. However, it is unlikely to be more than a few dollars.
According to the settlement website, the final approvalhearing is currently scheduled for Oct. 15, when the court will decide whether to approve the settlement and the proposed plan for distributing the funds.
