Roblox plans to let creators distribute their games as standalone apps across mobile, PC, and consoles, the company announced at its developers conference on Friday. The platform will supply the underlying technology and services for those apps, as it looks to make games easier to access outside the Roblox app itself, as per a Reuters report on the matter.
Roblox is expanding its AI tools for game creation as well. The company introduced Build in July, which lets users create, test, and publish a playable game from a text prompt inside the app. Roughly 9,000 games have been published using Build, and 71% of those creators had never previously used Roblox Studio, further states the report.
Scene Generator, due later this year, will allow creators to use a text prompt and reference image to produce a functional game layout. Roblox also plans to add non-player characters capable of playtesting games.
