Al Pacino is reportedly in serious talks to join the MCU. Previously, the Godfather alum had met with Kevin Feige back in 2014, in the wake of Guardians of the Galaxy. However, that meeting did not materialize into a role.
Now, scooper @MyTimeToShineH on X has reported that Pacino may be once again involved in serious negotiations to appear in the MCU. Neither Pacino’s team nor Marvel Studios has confirmed that such talks have taken place.
Al Pacino previously met with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige about a possible MCU role
Appearing on the Happy Sad Confused podcast in 2014, Pacino revealed that he had had a conversation with Kevin Feige and was waiting for a role that felt right for him. At the time, speculation heavily pointed towards Pacino either being in talks for the role of The Grandmaster or Mephisto.
Mephisto would make his debut in the MCU in Ironheart, played by Borat alum Sacha Baron Cohen. The Grandmaster would debut in 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok, played by Jurassic Park star Jeff Goldblum. Twelve years on, Al Pacino still hasn’t entered the MCU. With the Marvel Cinematic Universe bringing together a new iteration of the X-Men, it is likely that a slew of actors are currently in talks with Marvel Studios for various roles.
While some of the core cast has been announced, a lot of iconic X-Men roles still remain uncast. Further, with the Fantastic Four being a more regular part of the MCU, there are a slew of villains to be played as well.
Given his advanced age, fans are speculating that the actor is likely going to play a role that requires heavy CGI, similar to Bradley Cooper’s portrayal of Rocket Raccoon or Vin Diesel’s portrayal of Groot. Given the current nature of the MCU, it is also possible that Al Pacino could be in talks to play a variant of an established character.
