At its 12th annual Roblox Developers Conference (RDC 2026), Roblox has announced a broad set of platform updates aimed at lowering the barriers to game development while expanding the reach of experiences beyond its traditional app-based ecosystem. The announcements come as the company marks its 20th anniversary and are centred around what Roblox describes as “more play, more building, and more growth.”
A key part of the announcement is “Roblox Everywhere”, an initiative that will allow creators to release their games as <a href="https://comicvibe.com/roblox-opens-standalone-app-publishing-to-creators/” title=”Roblox opens standalone app publishing to creators”>standalone apps across mobile, PC and consoles, with Roblox providing the underlying technology and infrastructure. The move is designed to enable creators to reach players beyond the core Roblox app. By the end of this year, players will also be able to launch games directly through a web browser, beginning with Chrome, using a shared link without having to install the Roblox app.
Roblox is also expanding its AI-powered game creation capabilities. Its “Build” tool allows users to generate playable games using natural-language prompts. Following its initial alpha launch in New Zealand, the tool is expanding to Serbia and Singapore, along with new desktop access and asset management capabilities.
The company said around 9,000 games have been published using Build, with 71% of the creators having never previously used Roblox Studio. Roblox is also preparing to introduce an AI-powered “Scene Generator” later this year, which will allow creators to generate functional game layouts using a text prompt and reference image. The company is also adding AI-driven NPC capabilities, including NPCs that can playtest games.
Beyond AI-led creation, Roblox is expanding its engine to support 2D and asynchronous turn-based games, while also working towards offline solo play, planned for mid-2027.
The company is also introducing new monetisation tools for creators. Roblox Wallet and the upcoming Roblox Card are designed to provide creators with faster and more flexible access to their earnings. Roblox said creators have collectively earned more than $5 billion on the platform since 2013.
Taken together, the announcements signal a broader evolution in Roblox’s platform strategy, with AI lowering the barriers to game creation while new distribution and gameplay options aim to give creators more ways to reach players and monetise their experiences.
