Lil Wayne is taking his talents from the stage to the Battle Bus. The hip-hop legend has officially teamed up with Fortnite for a new Icon Series collection packed with outfits, emotes, accessories, and plenty of Young Money flavor.
The collaboration arrives while Wayne is on tour supporting Tha Carter VI, giving fans another way to experience the rapper beyond his live shows. This time, instead of grabbing a concert ticket, players can grab some Weezy-inspired gear and jump into battle.
The collection officially hits the Fortnite Item Shop on September 12 at 8 p.m. ET and will remain available through September 21.
Two Ways to Dress Like Weezy
The collection features two main looks inspired by Lil Wayne. The “Lil Wayne Outfit” comes with gold graffiti that glows and pulses along with the beat. Players can also switch the sunglasses on or off, giving the outfit a little extra flexibility.
The “Weezy Outfit” takes a different approach with an ember reactive style. It also includes toggleable options for the tank top, hat, and sunglasses, allowing players to change up the look while they play.
Of course, no Lil Wayne collection would feel complete without some serious Young Money energy.
The Milli Bricks Back Bling features a stack of gold bricks arranged to form the Young Money logo. There is also the flaming Weezy Board Back Bling, which pairs with the dual-wield Weezy Boardbreaker Pickaxe.
In other words, Wayne is not exactly showing up to the Battle Bus quietly.
Young Money Gets the Full Fortnite Treatment
The collaboration goes beyond outfits and pickaxes. Players can also add the Young Money Stage Glider to their collection, complete with pyrotechnic effects that bring some concert-style excitement to the game.
The release also includes two choreographed Emotes inspired by Wayne classics, “Lollipop” and “6 Foot 7 Foot.” Both feature Las Vegas-inspired lighting, giving the performances a flashy feel that fits right in with Fortnite.
Music fans can also pick up three Jam Tracks: “Lollipop,” “A Milli,” and “6 Foot 7 Foot.”
For longtime Lil Wayne fans, the song choices are especially fitting. “Lollipop” remains one of Wayne’s biggest crossover hits, while “A Milli” and “6 Foot 7 Foot” represent the rapper at his most energetic and unmistakably Weezy.
Fans Can Get the Gear Early
Players who do not want to wait for the Item Shop have another chance to get their hands on some of the new gear.
On September 12, players can compete in the Solo Battle Royale or Solo Zero Build Weezy Icon Cup. Those who perform well enough can earn the Weezy Outfit and Weezy Board Back Bling before they arrive in the Item Shop.
There is also something for everyone who participates. All players who take part in the Icon Cup will receive the YM Emoticon.
The full Lil Wayne Fortnite Icon Series collection will be available in the Item Shop from September 12 at 8 p.m. ET through September 21.
With Wayne currently celebrating the Tha Carter VI era on tour, the Fortnite partnership gives fans yet another way to step into the world of one of hip-hop’s most recognizable artists. This time, though, the stage is a little more digital, and the next performance might happen in the middle of a Battle Royale.
