Joe Hendry found another way to get inside JD McDonagh’s head on the Sept. 7 episode of WWE RAW. The TNA crossover star turned his ongoing rivalry with The Judgment Day member into a musical roast, offering a rather unusual explanation for McDonagh’s famously large head.
The feud between Hendry and McDonagh has grown increasingly personal after repeated involvement from The Judgment Day. McDonagh previously interfered during a Gauntlet match to help Dominik Mysterio eliminate Hendry, while later clashes led to Hendry teaming with Je’Von Evans against the faction.
At Sunday Night’s Main Event, The Judgment Day’s numbers game again cost Hendry during his match with Dominik. This time, however, Hendry fought back with a different weapon — comedy.
Joe Hendry’s Funko Pop joke targets JD McDonagh
Hendry presented a music video and documentary-style segment claiming that McDonagh’s biological father was a giant Funko Pop. The joke suggested that JD’s mother fell in love with the oversized collectible 36 years ago, supposedly explaining his unusually large head.
The Funko Pop family tree didn’t stop with the song. Later during the night, Hendry faced McDonagh in singles action, with the match quickly becoming physical.
McDonagh controlled the early stages before Hendry fought back with a shoulder block, punches, and a fallaway slam. Both men eventually went down after McDonagh connected with a headbutt.
That was when Je’Von Evans made his entrance wearing McDonagh’s father’s giant Funko Pop head. Evans even headbutted Dominik when he tried to stop him, while McDonagh missed a moonsault during the chaos.
The bizarre distraction gave Hendry the opening he needed. He defeated McDonagh by pinfall with a Side Effect, while Evans later placed the giant head on Hendry for another memorable visual.
McDonagh may have the largest head in the room, but Hendry appears determined to stay one step ahead of him — even if that means turning family history into a Funko Pop.
