A few months after the Lego GameBoy was released in 2025, a modding kit called the BrickBoy was released that allowed users turn it into a functional handheld. Now, it has been announced that the Lego PlayStation will get a similar treatment.

The modding kit, which will launch as the BrickStation, is from the makers of the BrickBoy, and they have provided a few details ahead of its release. According to info provided to Retrododo, the kit will be based on a Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W that is enclosed in an ABS that slots into the compartment for the Ape Escape diorama.

The BrickStation will have support for PS1 emulation, HDMI output, and even work with the power button on the Lego PlayStation set. It should also offer a “full resolution, full-framerate” experience, wired controller supportk with DualSense controller (available on Amazon for $79). If you have an original wired PlayStation controller, you can purchase 8BitDo’s mod kit that lets you turn it into a wireless controller

It has also been revealed that the plan is for the BrickStation to have full compliance with regulations and certifications, so there’s a possibility it might cost more than fan-made kits. The BrickStation is expected to launch on Kickstarter, but there’s no info regarding when that will be and how much it will cost. However, they have set up a site where you can sign up to be notified of its development.
