[Series: Stunning VRChat Worlds] “Veiled Dark”: A majestic world quietly decaying.

In VRChat, a wide variety of content is released day and night, from game worlds where you can play with friends to scenic worlds perfect for relaxing. In this series, we will pick out and introduce some of the most visually appealing worlds from the vast number of available worlds.

The world I’m introducing today is “Veiled Dark,” where you can explore a fantastical, decaying world.

“Veiled Dark” was created by overseas creator Dean`. It is a world where you can enjoy sightseeing while admiring decaying buildings and the dark fantasy scenery that surrounds them. The world was first released in 2025, but ithas recently been selected for the XR section of the Venice International Film Festival 2026, which is currently underway, and is attracting a lot of attention.

The entrance to this world is perched atop a sheer cliff. A mysterious aura emanates from the streetlights visible before you, and the surrounding area is dotted with majestic yet indescribable monuments. The sky is chaotic, with some parts appearing almost like night and others showing what looks like sunlight.

While there are scattered structures that appear to have been built by humans, such as stone pillars, they are all in a dilapidated state. It seems that no maintenance or upkeep by humans has been carried out for a long time.

Following the path, I came across a building on the verge of collapse. Covered in vegetation, it gave the impression that a long time had passed since this place had been largely abandoned.

The interior is also in a state of disrepair, but it’s in better condition than the exterior. The fireplace is lit, which may indicate that someone is still inside.

A path extends further from the building. Ahead lies a structure resembling a ruined tower. Stepping inside and looking up, the striking lighting creates an atmosphere reminiscent of a cutscene from a video game.

“Veiled Dark” is a world reminiscent of FromSoftware’s dark aesthetic, similar to “Dark Souls” and “Elden Ring.” The world is sprinkled with intriguing details, and it’s fun to ponder their meanings.

Personally, I’m intrigued by the golden light that can be seen scattered around streetlights and sculptures. Considering that it’s emanating from the streetlights, it might be some kind of energy-based substance from this world.
