The end zone of Aaron Rodgers‘ football career will only be the beginning.
After all, the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback teased his post-retirement plans to start a family with his wife Brittanifollowing the 2026 NFL season.
“I’m hopefully going to be supporting my pregnant wife because we’re going to start a family and I am not going to be making a lot of appearances or statements,” Rodgers said during an appearance on SiriusXM Mad Dog Radio Sept. 4. “And I’m looking forward to a life of quiet after 22 years in the pros and three in college and getting my body healed up and working on a family. That’s what I’m looking forward to.”
As for what got him so excited to tackle dad duty? Recently, the 42-year-old ended his yearslong estrangement from his loved ones, which Rodgers previously shared grew worse as he became a household name.
But “being back” in his family’s lives, especially those of his brothers Jordan Rodgers and Luke Rodgers‘ kids, has allowed him to have “a lot of fun being Uncle Aaron.”
“I have a few godkids that I’m involved with, but being Uncle Aaron to my brothers’ kids has been a lot of fun,” he explained. “And the more I’m around them, the more I get excited and so does the wife about having some of our own.”
In fact, the athlete hopes he and Brittani—who wed in 2025—can huddle up to expand their family as soon as he hangs up his jersey for the last time. As he put it, “I’m talking about I’m hoping that I have a pregnant wife by next [year] this time.”
“I can’t wait for that next chapter of life and all that that entails, and sleepless nights and crying babies and changing diapers and all those things,” he said. “I’m looking forward to all of it.”
Though Rodgers has kept his marriage out of the public eye, he previously shared how Brittani has become his teammate in life, revealing she <a href="https://www.eonline.com/news/1434438/aaron-rodgers-says-wife-brittani-allowed-last-nfl-season-with-mike-mccarthy” rel=”nofollow noopener” target=”_blank”>influenced his decision to play under his former Green Bay Packers coach Mike McCarthy for his 22nd and final year in the league after previously announcing he’d be retiring last year.
“I thought last year might be it, and then Mike got hired,” Rodgers told reporters during a July 28 press conference, before adding, “I talked to the wife. She said, ‘You can do one more year and see if it works out.’ And then it kind of all came together.”
“I’m happy to be reunited, and that part of my life is a really beautiful addition,” Rodgers told Kyle Brandt during his August 1 appearance on the NFL Network. “And I’ve got to give my wife a lot of credit for—not that she was pushing me, because she never was, but just the way that she loves and supports me.”
“Having her by my side during this process has been really special,” he added. “And I missed those relationships. And there was reasons for it that don’t need to be talked about, but I’m thankful that that’s come all the way back around.”
