In a true sense of justice, the crime drama Furioushas received an order for a second season from Hulu/Disney+.
The new show brought in 43 million viewing hours since its premiere on July 27, and has seen a major increase in its audience since then, thanks to positive word of mouth, per Variety.
Furious“follows an FBI agent, Alice Black (Emmy Rossum) on the hunt for a mysterious and calculating female serial killer (Lola Petticrew),” Disney’s official synopsis for the series states. “Both walk their own paths toward justice, and as their lives start to intertwine, the line between right and wrong begins to blur.”
After a finale that perhaps creates more questions than it answers, fans of Furiouswill be keen to know when they can see their favorite new characters once more. Here’s what we know about the future of the series.
‘Furious’ Season 2 Release Window: What We Know So Far
Season 1 of Furiousreportedly wrapped production in December 2025, after filming commenced in early September of that year, and then premiered on Hulu on July 27, 2026.
While the series was renewed for a second season in August, the writing for Season 2 has to commence before filming takes place, with the assumption that principal photography for new episodes takes around 4 months again. According to an interview with showrunner Elizabeth Meriwether for Vulture, writing for the show began in Spring of that year and continued for 20 weeks, even when filming had commenced.
If we account for 8 months of writing and filming, then a 7-month gap between wrapping and the official premiere, that’s a 15-month total to create Season 1. If production for Season 2 resembles that of Season 1, fans of Furiouslikely have a wait of around 15 months, making a Season 2 premiere date of fall 2027 most likely, circa October.
If the production can be fast-tracked with a shorter writing or production process, however, this may speed up this agonizing year-plus wait for viewers. Additionally, Meriwether did say in her Vultureinterview that she had a “list of ideas” for Season 2, so hopefully it won’t involve the painstaking process of starting from scratch for the writers’ room.
