‘Hunter x Hunter’ is heading into another indefinite hiatus, again. Shueisha has confirmed thatYoshihiro Togashi’s manga will once again leave the pages of Weekly Shonen Jump following the publication of Chapter 420 in Issue #41, scheduled for September 6, 2026.
The announcement comes after the manga returned from a hiatus that began in December 2024. Togashi resumed publication in June 2026 with Chapter 411, and the series has since released 10 consecutive chapters. While readers had hoped the latest run would continue for longer, Togashi’s health continues to require a measured approach to the manga’s serialization. Despite the new break, there are reasons to believe the wait for the next batch of chapters could be shorter than some previous hiatuses.
Togashi has already made progress on additional chapters
According to Togashi’s latest production updates, the creator has completed the manuscript work for three chapters beyond Chapter 420, meaning Chapters 421 through 423 are already prepared for publication. Togashi has also reported progress on chapters extending as far as Chapter 430, although those chapters are at different stages of completion. This does not provide a publication schedule, but it indicates that work on the manga is continuing even while the series is absent from Weekly Shonen Jump.
The author has also previously discussed his intention to completeat least 50 additional chapters. If that goal is reached, the manga would advance from its current point through Chapter 460. The distinction is important for Hunter x Hunter, which has experienced several extended breaks throug hout its publication history. Having multiple chapters at different stages of production could allow Shueisha to publish another batch once Togashi is ready to resume serialization.

For now, readers will have to wait once again, with Chapters 421 and beyond remaining in Togashi’s hands until Hunter x Hunter is ready to return.
