Travis Kelce Opens Up About MSG Wedding With Taylor Swift
    01:12

You may have heard that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce got married at Madison Square Garden earlier this summer. What you may not have heard is how the event, which was attended by stars from all walks of life, went down.

In the Sept. 2 season premiere of Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast, which he hosts with brother Jason Kelce, the siblings opened up about that July 3 evening and the one tweak that made it even more of a success.

“The thing I really liked about this wedding in particular and the way you guys structured it was after all that was done, there wasn’t the sit-down formal stuff,” Jason Kelce said. “There wasn’t a bunch of the speeches. It was just time to party and have fun. And that’s what made it so fun to for me to be there.”

Guests were not allowed to have their phones, which changed the dynamics of the night.

“With no phones comes people not having to be on guard and like, feel that something, whatever that feeling is for everyone,” Travis Kelce said.

“It makes everyone be in the moment and be present. And it was so cool seeing everyone from my childhood not only mesh with Taylor and her childhood and her family and friends and people that she works with, to who we’ve come encounter with over our career and who we just admire as people and have become good friends with now.”

Travis Kelce, who said the night was something he and Swift “will never forget,” was also awed by hearing how the guests felt about the wedding.

“It’s just been so cool to see that world come together and hear through, person by person, after the wedding, just how awesome of a time everyone had there,” he said. “And that’s what we wanted it to be. We wanted it to be a beautiful ceremony, but we also wanted to make sure that everybody left there having some fun. And it was a magical night.”

The pair also had high praise for Adam Sandler, who officiated the nuptials. Travis Kelce said the comedian got ordained in New York and called him “the best person on the planet,” while his brother said, “The ceremony was beautiful. Adam killed it.”

Travis Kelce and Swift haven’t said much publicly about their wedding since they exchanged vows. Before “New Heights,” Travis Kelce made a brief comment at a Chiefs’ training camp press conference, calling the nuptials “the best night of my life.”

“I wish it could have lasted even longer than it did. It felt like it just happened at a blink of an eye,” he said on “New Heights.”

He also thanked Madison Square Garden for holding the event and meeting their needs.

“We wanted to do it somewhere where we could have a very intimate and genuine setting without a lot of distractions. And we needed it to be a private feel,” he said. “And MSG went above and beyond to give us that.”
