As one of the most prominent comic book publishers in the history of the medium, DC Comics boasts many iconic superheroes and villains. From the likes of Superman and Wonder Woman to the Joker and Lex Luthor, DC is home to some of the biggest household names in pop culture, many of whom have appeared in video games. This dates as far back as the extremely rare Atari 2600 Superman game from 1979. Since then, games based on DC properties have only grown more sophisticated.
With DC video games being such an industry staple now, we’ve rounded up our personal favorites. DC properties have been adapted into a variety of genres — whether it be open-world adventures, fighting games, or MMOs, there are plenty of top titles to choose from. The following games stand as some of the best superhero games ever made, DC or otherwise, with each offering new dimensions to the well-worn genre. 5. Batman: Arkham Knight

When it comes to the DC character with the best video games, there’s only one winner: Batman. There are other DC superheroes who are just as iconic, but none of the other big hitters have been the focus of a game worthy of inclusion here — not even Superman. What we can say is that this list is not populated exclusively with Batman titles, but you’re going to see a lot of Caped Crusader games in this article, starting with 2015’s “Batman: Arkham Knight,” part of the “Batman: Arkham” story that began in 2009 with “Batman: Arkham Asylum.”
The game’s main story revolves around Batman confronting Scarecrow and many of his other familiar supervillains throughout Gotham City on Halloween night. Providing players with the biggest environment of any game in the series, “Arkham Knight” also introduces the Batmobile to help players navigate Gotham. On top of this, the game boasts an impressive amount of DLC and offers players the option to play as Catwoman, Robin, and Nightwing, adding to the variety. It scored solid reviews across the board at the time and is now widely regarded as one of the best games of the PlayStation 4/Xbox One generation.
4. DC Universe Online

A free-to-play massively multiplayer online game that is still going strong 15 years after its launch on Windows and the PlayStation 3, “DC Universe Online” lets players create their own customized hero or villain and work under mentors from the established roster of DC characters. You can explore familiar locations like Metropolis and Gotham City while completing missions and side quests throughout these environments. Honing their powers and abilities as they level up, players can participate in adventures directly inspired by memorable comic book storylines.
“DC Universe Online” was expanded to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S with ports in 2024, so new gamers are still discovering the game today. The most recent update came in February 2026 and there are more in the pipeline, with developer Dimensional Ink Games teasing a bunch of new additions in a <a href="https://comicvibe.com/corsa-legends-codes-july-2026/" title="Corsa Legends codes (July 2026)”>July 2026 statement, saying: “We’re always paying attention to how the game feels to play, and updates like this come from wanting every minute in DCUO to count.” One of the most underrated MMOs around and still thriving as live-service games see a downturn across the industry, it’s not too late to jump into “DC Universe Online.”
3. LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight

Batman has a strong history of LEGO games going as far back as 2008’s “LEGO Batman: The Video Game.” That said, the most recent LEGO iteration of the Caped Crusader, 2026’s “LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight,” stands as the pinnacle of these minifig interpretations. The game is a love letter to all things Batman, drawing from the character’s television and film history in addition to comic books as recent as “Absolute Batman,” which began publication in 2024. The game plunges players in an open-world LEGO Gotham City, which they have to defend against a variety of threats.
With its traversal and combat styles directly influenced by the “Batman: Arkham” games, “Legacy of the Dark Knight” feels like a more family-friendly twist on that popular franchise. It also maintains the LEGO games’ penchant for featuring a wide bench of playable characters, each with their own unique abilities to add with progression. But beyond its scope and gameplay mechanics, half of the joy here is seeing how the game incorporates familiar elements of the superhero’s extensive mythos into a coherent experience. A must-have for any fan of the character, “LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight” is fun for players of all ages.
2. Injustice 2

After placing an alternate DC Universe into a super-powered civil war for the 2013 fighting game “Injustice: Gods Among Us,” NetherRealm took it to the next level with the sequel. 2017’s “Injustice 2” returns to a universe where Superman broke bad and ruled over the world through a totalitarian regime before being usurped by Batman. The Dark Knight and Man of Steel are forced to team up when their planet is threatened by the arrival of Brainiac. However, this fragile alliance quickly leads heroes and supervillains to turn against each other once again as the conflict reopens old wounds.
“Injustice 2” refines the fighting game experience introduced by the original “Injustice” while significantly adding to the playable roster. This includes an extensive DLC with plenty of guest fighters: The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Hellboy, and even some “Mortal Kombat” characters join the fray. The game also places a greater emphasis on unlockable outfits, with “Injustice 2” boasting an extensive gear system. While we all wait for any scrap of news on a potential “Injustice 3,” the series’ 2017 installment remains an action-packed reimagining of DC’s heroes and villains.

The best DC video game to date is also the best Batman game: 2011’s “Batman: Arkham City.” The direct sequel to “Batman: Arkham Asylum,” the game has Batman infiltrate a portion of Gotham City that’s been converted into a sprawling supermax prison. The Dark Knight discovers a deeper conspiracy behind these developments, pitting him against many familiar foes throughout Gotham. Challenge mode returns from the previous entry, and players can also control Catwoman, including in story missions starring the character.
“Arkham City” standing as superior to “Arkham Knight” is a clear reminder that bigger doesn’t always mean better. Everything feels much more intuitive and engagingly told in the 2011 title than its 2015 sequel, especially when it comes to the story. “Arkham City” is also chock full of side missions and Easter eggs — it even includes a secret that remained hidden for three years. The game was met with near-universal acclaim at the time of its release and it remains a beloved highlight in the Dark Knight’s multimedia history 15 years later.
