Disney+ just confirmed the first new appearance of She-Hulk in 4 years. Arguably one of the greatest fumbles and biggest flops of the MCU’s Disney+ era landed in 2022 with She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, a nine-episode legal comedy with a superhero spin that introduced Tatiana Maslany as the titular superhero lawyer. The big-budget live-action series was plagued by a Hulk-sized $225 million budget due to its entirely CGI main character. But the bigger problem was that the humor and storyline faced major backlash from fans, leading to the hero’s disappearance from the MCU, despite prior promises that she would be a major player.
Much like most of the MCU’s early Disney+ shows, She-Hulk‘s release was followed by silence and limited updates on its future. The most damning news didn’t come until January 2024, over a year after its premiere. Maslany said, “I don’t think so,”when asked whether fans should expect Season 2, stating that they “blew [their] budget” and implying that the decision came from Disney.
The actress’ latest comments on returning as She-Hulk were with <a href="https://theplaylist.net/she-hulk-star-tatiana-maslany-mcu-crossover-20260506/” rel=”nofollow noopener” target=”_blank”>The Playlist’sBingeworthypodcast in May 2026, in which Maslany joked that she “[thinks] people would be so mad at [her] being on their screens again.”
During the Marvel Television & Animation panel at New York Comic-Con 2026, X-Men ’97Season 3 unveiled its first trailer to attendees, confirming that Gambit and Rogue are set to get married when the Disney+ hit returns in 2027. A superhero wedding is bound to be filled with unexpected guests from the Marvel universe, one of which is Jennifer Walters, who is returning to Disney+ for the first time in 4 years since She-Hulk: Attorney at Lawfor at least a cameo in X-Men ’97. The burning question is whether She-Hulk’s return inX-Men ’97could be a launching point to a larger MCU return, and it certainly would be if Marvel Television boss Brad Winderbaum had his way.
Winderbaum sat down with The Escape Podcastand said he would “love to make more She-Hulk,“as he is a big fan of the show. While the legal comedy didn’t land as well as hoped in the MCU fandom, the exec shocked his interviewers with the revelation that it was “one of [their] best-performing shows:”
“I know you’re She-Hulk fans, and I love She-Hulk too. I’d love to make more ‘She-Hulk.’ I’ll tell you this about She-Hulk: it’s one of our best-performing shows. It just hit the general audience. There was a mismatch between fan response and the audience response.”
Despite Winderbaum’s eagerness to continue She-Hulkinto Season 2, it seems the powers that be at Disney don’t share that dream, as he answered with a sigh of “I know”when it was suggested that it was “never gonna happen.”Regardless, the She-Hulkproducer maintained a “hopefully one day”outlook on its future prospects, but even that, sadly, may be an unrealistic dream given its budget.

While She-HulkSeason 2 seems out of the question, that’s not to say there isn’t room for Maslany and Jennifer Walters elsewhere in the MCU. Just recently, Spider-Man: Brand New Dayacknowledged Hulk’s son, Skaar, who debuted in the She-Hulkfinale, and made Bruce Banner’s gamma inhibitor a crucial plot point, confirming that Marvel Studios has no desire to ignore the Disney+ show.
On the topic of a potential MCU return outwith She-Hulk’s solo Disney+ show, Maslany suggested to the Bingeworthypodcast that it would require “somebody like [head writer] Jessica Gao to weave her into the world.”She also suggested that the character may thrive best in her own show, but remained open to the “real cool challenge”of taking her into another context:
“Yeah. I mean, I don’t know. I think it would take somebody like Jessica Gao to weave her into that world because she knows that character so deeply and loves her and gets her tone, but there is something about She-Hulk being the star of her own show that makes sense. Do you know what I mean? Because of the direct address, she is our narrator. So, I think it would be a real cool challenge to see her in some other context, but I do think the joy of She-Hulk is in the singularness of it.”
In terms of where that “other context”could be, most fans’ guesses are bound to turn to Avengers: Doomsdayand Secret Wars, the first of which has already wrapped production, while the latter will start up production in January.
Unfortunately, Maslany isn’t part of the confirmed cast for Doomsday, meaning that She-Hulk: Attorney at Lawremains her only MCU appearance for now. While one report claimed She-Hulk will have a “fairly significant”role in Avengers 5, there have been no updates to support that in the last year.
That is a major pivot from March 2025, when concept art for Doomsdayand Secret Warsleaked online, featuring She-Hulk, Hulk, and Skaar on Battleworld. Perhaps Marvel Studios may be saving the Jade Giantess’ return for Secret Wars, as she played a significant part in the 2015 storyline that inspired the upcoming flick.
Doctor Doom created Battleworld as a patchwork of the Multiverse’s surviving remnants, each domain of which was ruled over by a Baron or Baroness, while the supervillain himself acts as absolute god-emperor. One of those domains, Arcadia, was a peaceful utopia led by Baroness She-Hulk, with the all-female superhero team A-Force acting as its primary protectors.
It seems highly unlikely that a controversial character like She-Hulk will be granted such a crucial role in the MCU adaptation, but at least one Hulk appears set for an important part in Secret Wars. The recent Avengers: Endgame Encorere-release confirmed that Doctor Doom has collected Bruce Banner for unclear reasons, perhaps choosing him to become a baron for Battleworld’s domains.
She-Hulk never appeared in X-Men: The Animated Series or X-Men ’97, but she did show up in Fantastic Four and The Incredible Hulk, two other animated Marvel shows from the ’90s that share the same continuity. She was originally voiced by Lisa Zane and later recast with Cree Summer in the connected TV universe.

This Jennifer Walters was captured and injured when Doctor Doom went after her cousin, Bruce Banner, and, after receiving a blood transfusion from her Jade Giant relative, transformed into a gamma-infused lawyer. She-Hulk would go on to play a major role in The Incredible HulkSeason 2 and even join the Avengers, appearing in the series finale of Fantastic Four, aptly titled “Doomsday.”
While She-Hulk appeared alongside the Avengers and Fantastic Four in the ’90s “Doomsday,” in which Doctor Doom stole the Power Cosmic from the Silver Surfer, the jury is still out on whether Tatiana Maslany will be back for this year’s Avengers: Doomsdayor December 2027’s Avengers:Secret Wars.
Does She-Hulk Have an MCU Future?
Last year, Tatiana Maslany called for fans to “cancel”their Disney+ subscriptions after Jimmy Kimmel was briefly suspended from his late-night talk show, although that decision was later reversed. Since then, despite rumors that she refused to work for Disney again, the actress told Radio Times that she would return as She-Hulk if asked because “the character is outside of what I feel like the corporation is doing,”although she claimed she hadn’t heard anything.
Unfortunately, between the backlash to She-Hulk, her 4-year-long absence from the MCU, and Maslany’s past statements against Disney, it’s tough to imagine her making her way into the already jam-packed Avengersblockbusters. If She-Hulk did appear on Battleworld, as concept art once suggested, it would be surprising if it were anything more than a small cameo or very minor supporting role.
Outside the next two Avengers movies, only time will tell whether Marvel Studios can find room for She-Hulk, but it would likely need to be on the big screen or animated due to the budgetary challenges she presents. The character’s inclusion in X-Men ’97proves that Marvel Studios hasn’t forgotten Jennifer Walters; in fact, perhaps animation could even be the path to She-Hulk‘s MCU revival.
As Bruce Banner’s cousin, She-Hulk’s best chances at returning in any significant way would be as a leading or major supporting character in a solo Hulk movie. But that, sadly, such a notion comes with its own obstacles, as the distribution rights to the Jade Giant on the big screen are held up at Universal, not Disney, although Mark Ruffalo previously gave a glimmer of hope for Hulk’s solo movie chances.
