When Netflix announced Wonka’s The Golden Ticket,we were immediately excited to be welcomed back to the most famous chocolate factory in the world
Rather than bringing fans a reboot of the seriesred by the series, Netflix put a spin on the beloved Roald Dahl story by reimagining it as a reality competition series set within the world of Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory. The series pitted 12 pairs against one another through a series of challenges inspired by Wonka’s creations, delivering an amazing, over-the-top competition series
Fans immediately fell in love with the show when the first seven episodes dropped, with the series debuting at No. 2 on Netflix with 4.6 million views. The series remained in the Top 10 through the release of its final two episodes, with fans quickly tuning in upon the finale’s release to see who walked away with the grand prize.
It’s not yet known whether Netflix will order a second season, but even if one is ordered, we’ll have to wait until at least 2027 for another batch of episodes to arrive. Thankfully, if you’re looking for additional reality competition series on Netflix, there are some amazing options fans of Wonka’s The Golden Ticketwill enjoy!

Squid Game: The Challenge
When it comes to comparable Netflix shows like Wonka’s The Golden Ticket, the closest thing you’ll find on Netflix to the show is probably Squid Game: The Challenge.
Like Wonka’s The Golden Ticket, Squid Game: The Challengeis also based on a popular IP with the series pulling direct inspiration from the original project it was based upon. But what makes it a perfect pick for those who enjoyed Wonka’s The Golden Ticketis that it too is full of crazy challenges for the players to compete in and many games of chance. In fact, when I first pressed play on the trailer for Wonka’s The Golden Ticket, my mind went right to Squid Game: The Challengebecause of the absurdity of the challenges the players were thrust into.
If the challenges and competition elements of Wonka’s The Golden Ticket were what won you over, then you will absolutely enjoy Squid Game: The Challenge, which has so many incredible, bonkers challenges and, of course, more than a few twists sprinkled in to keep things interesting.
The Circle
Now, if the social gameplay of Wonka’s The Golden Ticketwas what really won you over, there is another amazing reality competition series on Netflix that you’ll really love, and that show is The Circle.
The Circleran for seven seasons and was the ultimate social experiment. The series allowed players to enter the game playing as either themselves or as a catfish, with their only communication to the other players comings could share photos, chat with others in the game to form alliances, and partake in various challenges
This was a game that really tested social connections, which was something that played a major role in Wonka’s The Golden Ticket,as relationships were key in the competition, especially late in the season. If you loved seeing the social gameplay of Wonka’s The Golden Ticket, you’ll love the social dynamics that come into play in The Circle. And the nice thing is there are plenty of seasons to enjoy!

Floor Is Lava
If your favorite part of Wonka’s The Golden Ticketwas the show’s insane challenges, then there is really no better show for you than Floor Is Lava.
Floor Is Lavatapped into the childhood game we all used to play by creating an elaborate series of obstacle courses that competitors navigated in hopes of winning the grand prize. There isn’t much social strategy to this one, as it’s more about physicality and strategic maneuvering throughout the course in order to make it to the end in the fastest time and win the grand prize.
The show’s elaborate courses will definitely give you shades of Wonka’s The Golden Ticket, and it’s truly fun watching the contestants go out there and give it their all in each episode competing in the obstacle course.
Is It Cake?
Considering Wonka’s The Golden Ticketis based on a candy factory, it seems only fitting to close the list out with one of Netflix’s amazing baking competition series.
Is It Cake?brings together elite bakers who are challenged with recreating everyday items as cake in hopes of fooling a panel of judges by their elaborate creations. The series is one that feels almost ripped right from the mind of Wonka himself, as who else would think to make edible versions of everyday items from footwear to home decor?
The show has a similar whimsy to it, and it’s another show the entire family can enjoy together. It’s basically the equivalent of what Wonka’s The Golden Ticketwould likely have looked like if it were actually a baking competition, as the competing bakers would certainly make Willy Wonka proud with their creations.
