MURDER IN A SMALL TOWN: L-R: Rossif Sutherland and Kristin Kreuk in the series premiere of MURDER IN A SMALL TOWN on FOX |
Each month, there are seemingly endless amounts of new content added to Netflix that it can be difficult to keep track of what’s coming and what’s going. In September 2026, the streaming service will be adding a wide variety of new shows and movies, including the original series everyone has been looking forward to binge-watch. But what about the other TV shows coming to Netflix?
On top of the original titles making their premieres on Netflix in September, there are a fair amount of fan-favorites from around the cable and broadcast landscape landing on the streamer. Perhaps the most exciting of them all is Heartland season 19 finally arriving for streaming and the latest season of Law & Orderdropping ahead of the new season later this fall.
Thankfully, there are plenty more exciting titles where those come from, between recent hits to catch up and past hits with lengthy runs to escape into. As always, Netflix gives but it also takes away. A handful of series will be removed from the platform in September, with two especially that are liking to hit fans hard. Let’s highlight a few TV shows coming and leaving before sharing the full list below!
Major Crimes seasons 1-6
If you’re a fan of crime dramas and police procedurals, your watch list is about to receive quite the gift with over 100 episodes to explore. Major Crimes premiered on TNT back in 2012 as a spinoff and continuation of the hit seriesThe Closer. Mary McDonnell’s character took the lead of the Major Crime Division and tackled big cases with a team that didn’t fully trust her while also juggling a complicated personal life. The series ran for six seasons and offers non-stop mystery.
When Hope Calls seasons 1-2
When Calls the Heart fans have something to celebrate this September, but it’s unfortunately not the Hallmark Channel original series coming back to Netflix. The beloved series’ first spinoff, When Hope Calls, is actually making its Netflix debut, bringing two of its three current seasons to the streamer. Taking place in a town called Brookfield, the period drama tackles similar themes to its sire and is full of romance and heartwarming stories.
Party Down seasons 1-3
Over the years, there have been so many underrated comedy series, in both the figurative and literal sense, that fans have kept alive. Despite only lasting for two seasons, the Starz comedy seriesParty Downlater returned in 2021 for a third season, a limited revival event that brought the cast of the short-lived comedy back together. Adam Scott and Jane Lynch headline the series about aspiring creatives working a caterer in Los Angeles. It’s hilarious and worth the rewatch or discovery.
Murder in a Small Town seasons 1-2
You might be in the market for new series that you might have missed, and with the amount of shows currently on these days, it’s likely you have missed a few. If you enjoyed watching Fox’s medial drama Best Medicine on Netflix, you will probably also love checking out the network’s crime drama Murder in a Small Town. Rossif Sutherland and Kristin Kreuk star in the series about a big city detective investigating murders in the coastal town he escaped to. Season 3 will premiere on Fox in early 2027.
Girlfriends seasons 1- 8
One of the biggest losses hitting Netflix in September 2026 is definitely Girlfriends. The iconic sitcom has been available to stream on Netflix since 2020, but it’s time is unfortunately coming to an end after six years. While it’s available to stream on Pluto TV, the series could also make the jump to Paramount+ since the series is owned by Paramount. Hopefully, the sitcom will find its way back to Netflix sometime in the future to continue making fans laugh.
Nashville seasons 1-6
ABC and CMT’s country music drama series Nashville has spent a year on Netflix, and it’s been an exciting addition to the streamer as old fans rediscover their love for the show and new fans discover the show they missed the first time around. Unfortunately, the series will be pulled from Netflix in mid-September due to the streamer’s licensing deal with Disney. It’s a bittersweet removal given its proximity to the tragic passing of series star Hayden Panettiere.
