Last year was rough for the studio: All three Marvel movies released in 2025 — “Captain America: Brave New World,” “Thunderbolts” and “Fantastic Four” — underperformed at the box office. And the marketing campaign for this December’s “Avengers: Doomsday” has been met with a lukewarm reception by superfans and casual fans alike.

Marvel has entered a new publishing partnership with KADOKAWA to produce five original manga volumes featuring some of its best-known superheroes, including Spider-Man and Punisher. The collaboration was unveiled during the Marvel Fanfare panel at San Diego Comic-Con.

Marvel Studios stole the limelight at San Diego Comic-Con with announcements of upcoming projects, including ‘Ghost Rider’ starring Ryan Gosling and ‘Black Panther 3’ featuring David Jonsson as the new T’Challa. These reveals, especially the anticipated ‘Black Panther 3’, are slated for release on Dec. 15, 2028.

Marvel is set to bring out two new solo comic book series featuring Mary Jane and Venom. The announcement was made at the 2026 San Diego Comic-Con during the Marvel Comics: Next Big Thing panel. These two new series will drop following the release of the Queen in Black crossover event.
