Critical role cast believes Imodna’s relationship is toxic due to lack of self-care

It’s okay to admit that your favorite ship isn’t perfect. Relationships can be messy, whether they’re real-life romances or imaginary ones born during tabletop gaming sessions. Our favorite fictional couples, even if they’re cute together, have their flaws.

Imogen Tamrut (voiced by Laura Bailey) and Loudna (voiced by Marisha Ray) were a power couple during Critical Role Campaign 3, and their ship was named Imodna. Yes, they were adorable, but the voice actors think they were so devoted to each other that they completely ignored self-care. This brought up an interesting question – is it harmful to give yourself completely to your partner?

Ray reveals that Loudna is only worried about Imogen and not about herself. “I’m 100% worried about you,” Marisha Ray said during the Critical Role Spotlight panel at New York Comic Con 2023. “Same thing,” Laura Bailey said.

“Are you worried about yourself? Nothing,” Ray continues. Same thing,” Bailey replied, to which Ray added, “Zero self-preservation.”

“Is it healthy in a relationship to only care about the other person?” asks Sam Riegel. “The more I think about it, there’s actually a lot of that in this group,” Taliesin Jaffe says. “Where is the line between altruism and codependency?” host Whitney Moore asks.

Table talk games can sometimes surprise you and make you think about love in a new way. Imodna may not be a perfectly sound ship, but it’s definitely a thought-provoking one.
