Epic Games has spent most of 2026 trying to win back Fortnite players, after cutting over 1,000 jobs and raising V-Bucks prices in March. Now, the company has reportedly delayed its first Disney game and told developers to finish development with AI tools. The Fortnite community is not taking the news well.

“Programming is hard,” the company wrote in an announcement on Wednesday. “So, instead of doing that, we vibe coded a new Epic Games Launcher that’s way faster and more responsive than the current one, and has a new look.”

Fortnite is coming to Linux, Epic Games saidon 14 October, but only after it finishes EAC Linux v2, a rebuilt version of its Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) software. There is no release date yet, and the Steam Deck doesn’t currently meet the new anti-cheat’s requirements.

Changing your name in Fortnite depends on which name the game is showing. On PC, Nintendo Switch, and mobile, that is your Epic Games display name. On PlayStation and Xbox, Fortnite shows your PSN Online ID or Xbox gamertag, so the name has to be changed on the console’s side.
