IKEA gained fame as the home of reasonably priced furniture (and some tasty Swedish meatballs). Now, the retail giant is attempting to appeal to a rather large and, until now, underserved part of their customer base—gamers. IKEA <a href="https://www.ikea.com/global/en/newsroom/collaborations/ikea-xbox-launch-the-yxstaby-collection-260826/” rel=”nofollow noopener” target=”_blank”>announced YXSTABY, a nine-piece Xbox collection “designed for gaming at home as it happens today, in any room and alongside everything and everyone else in it.” You can check out several images from this amazing new IKEA collection in our gallery below:
Here’s what IKEA’s product design developer Philip Dilé had to say about the new Xbox collection:
How people play at home has shifted, and it is as much about relaxing and connecting with others as it is about performing, which changes what the space has to do. Xbox knows what players need from their gaming setup, and we know how to solve the small problems that come with adapting that to everyday life at home. Together, we set out to make furniture people really want in their home, not furniture they accept because it is what you need to game.
This Xbox-inspired collection features a few creative items for your living area. Among them are a television stand, laptop stand, a table, and a lounge chair. Many items have that recognizable Xbox controller theming, even the stools and cushions. In fact, the stool looks exactly like a thumbstick, which is pretty amazing, and comes in both black and the iconic Xbox green tones.
Apparently, IKEA created the stool using original 3D design files for the Xbox controller from the archives. We love little touches like this. You can also purchase the stainless steel platter modeled on a D-pad. And the mirrored display box can help turn Xbox gaming controllers into actual decor for your living area. For Xbox fans, these are all just too cool to pass up.
The YXSTABY collection will be available online and in IKEA stores starting October 1st.
