Venetian Gives Popular Casino Content Creator the Boot in Bizarre Self-Defeating Move

The Venetian reportedly barred popular gambling content creator Stephen Matt “Vegas Matt” Morrow after he raked in a monster slot win of more than $400,000. The ban seems like a strange, self-defeating move, one that is only likely to cost the casino money in the long term.

Morrow has more than 35,000 followers on Twitter, and he has a staggering 1.65 million subscribers on YouTube. That’s an awful lot of potential customers that the Venetian is blacking out from essentially free marketing.

And there seems to be very little rational basis for the ban. Morrow appears to have simply gotten lucky playing a high-stakes slot spin.

Vegas Matt Wasn’t Engaging in Slot Advantage Play

According to Morrow’s account, he played a Phoenix Link slot, a popular Aristocrat game, while livestreaming to his fans at the Venetian. He hit a $400,000 payout on the machine.

When Morrow returned a few days later to play again, he said he was “escorted off the property.” Industry.” In response to a follow-up query on social media, Vital Vegas explained that casinos are “hypersensitive” to advantage play on slots right now

Typically, advantage play on slots involves scouting the gaming floor for machines with game states that have a positive expected value (+EV). These +EV machines often have graphical indicators or even small numerical counters that indicate whether the slot will pay out a jackpot soon. Casual gamblers have run up the machine close to a payout before quitting.

However, Morrow disputed the idea that he had picked off the Venetian on an advantage play. He said he “left the counter higher than when he started it.”

“I disagree with their decision to kick me out, but that’s their right,” he wrote. “If casinos are going to kick everyone out who plays those games they shouldn’t have them. It’s silly and showed a lack of understanding from them, but what was I going to do, start a bunch of drama about it?”

Gaming America referred the video of the win to an industrymed everything Morrow said about the state of the slot game before and after the win

Reports on social media say that another player followed Morrow and eventually won around $600,000 on the slot after he left it in a +EV state.

Souring Both Vegas Matt and His Followers on the Venetian Seems Like Bad Business

Meanwhile, the Venetian has reaped nothing but bad press from the strange decision to bar Morrow. The move left many scratching their heads, given that Morrow brings both heavy action of his own and free publicity for the various casinos at which he gambles.

😂😂😂😂 banning Vegas Matt from a Las Vegas casino has to the absolute worst business decision a casino can make in 2026. That’s like banning Ronald McDonald from McDonald’s

Venetian has no clue what they’ve just done. Forget the channel, which he could weaponize but probably won’t, dude has whales flying in every weekend just to play with him.

    — Kip Kelly (@kipthekelly) August 26, 2026

Predictably, many of Morrow’s followers began sounding off in the replies that they’re going to avoid the Venetian on their next trips to Las Vegas.

Morrow himself insisted that he isn’t an advantage player and he’s happy to take his business elsewhere.

The whole episode is bizarre. The Venetian’s decisions run completely counter to the way casinos and gambling companies in general have trended in recent years. Paying influencers to market products has become standard operating procedure. Few, if any, content creators in the gambling business have the reach of Vegas Matt.

Yet, rather than establish a productive working relationship with him or at least make sure he’s a welcome guest, the Venetian has chosen to impose a self-defeating ban. It’s just bad business, and it reads as the Venetian lacking understanding of both its own products and the market as a whole.
