Comic Con India will make its Andhra Pradesh debut in Visakhapatnam on October 10 and 11, marking the start of its 2026-27 season. The event will be held at the Kalam Convention Centre on the AMTZ campus.
The event will feature international guests, cosplay showcases, interactive panel sessions, live music, stand-up comedy, exclusive launches and fan zones. The season will subsequently travel to other cities across the country.
Comic Con India has expanded to metropolitan and tier-2 cities since its acquisition by NODWIN Gaming, with the aim of making pop culture experiences more accessible to fans across India.
Shefali Johnson, CEO of Comic Con India, said Visakhapatnam’s association with Telugu cinema is being complemented by growing interest in anime, cosplay and student communities.
“Visakhapatnam has a strong connection with Telugu cinema, but its fandom culture is now expanding beyond films,” she said.
Ms. Johnson said the event would bring local stories and cultural influences to the same platform as emerging newer forms of content and art. She cited Telugu pop culture references, including ‘Budugu,’ as part of the city’s cultural connection.
Akshat Rathee, co-founder and managing director of NODWIN Gaming, said bringing Comic Con to new cities was part of the company’s effort to make pop culture accessible to fans beyond traditional metropolitan centres.
“We’ve always believed that pop culture should be accessible to fans wherever they are, and bringing Comic Con to new cities is a natural extension of that vision,” he said.
The organisers said the previous season travelled to 11 cities and attracted more than 3.5 lakh attendees, making it the biggest Comic Con India season to date.
