Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt are ready to introduce audiences to a fresh new coming-of-age story. The sisters’ production banner, Eternal Sunshine Productions, has teamed up with Prime Video for Don’t Be Shy, a new Prime Original film that will premiere on September 25, 2026.
A fresh coming-of-age story
The teaser introduces viewers to Shyamili ‘Shy’ Das, a 20-year-old who believes she has her life neatly figured out. But, as is often the case with your twenties, things don’t quite go according to plan. Shy’s perfectly organised world takes an unpredictable turn, sending her into a spiral of friendship, romance, emotions and the kind of chaos that comes with growing up.
Aarushi Bajaj takes on the role of Shy, leading a fresh-faced cast that includes Piyush Khati as Mayank, Bianca Arora as Tara and Ansh Duggal as Dhruv. The teaser promises a colourful, high-energy world filled with college life, close friendships, first love and plenty of confusion along the way.
With groovy music, vibrant visuals and playful chemistry between its young leads, Don’t Be Shy appears to be leaning into the messy and memorable years of early adulthood. While the film promises plenty of fun, the teaser also hints at emotional twists as Shy navigates the gap between the life she planned and the one that actually unfolds before her.
At the heart of the story is a familiar question – what happens when you realise you don’t have everything figured out after all? The film explores that uncertainty through the lens of friendship and romance, following four young people as they navigate some of life’s most exciting and confusing years. From first love to friendships that shape who you become, Don’t Be Shy seems set to capture the highs and lows of figuring yourself out while trying to keep everything else from falling apart.
Alia Bhatt and Shaheen back new talent
The film marks another project from Alia and Shaheen Bhatt’s Eternal Sunshine Productions, with the sisters backing a story centred on a new generation of actors and filmmakers. Written and directed by Sreeti Mukerji, Don’t Be Shy is co-produced by Grishma Shah and Vikesh Bhutani from Chalkboard Entertainment.
Alongside its young leads, the film also features familiar faces including Kunaal Roy Kapur, Anurag Basu, Neha Dhupia and Anju Alva Naik in pivotal roles.
While the teaser doesn’t reveal too much about the twists awaiting Shy and her friends, it establishes the film’s youthful, colourful vibe and gives audiences a glimpse of the relationships at its centre.
With friendship, first love and growing pains all colliding in one unpredictable journey, Don’t Be Shy is shaping up to be a coming-of-age story for anyone who has ever realised that adulthood rarely comes with a proper instruction manual.
Don’t Be Shy will premiere exclusively on Prime Video on September 25, 2026, in Hindi with English subtitles, across India and more than 240 countries and territories worldwide.
