Man Teases Most Infuriating Game Ever, Roblox Vultures Immediately Steal His Idea

Teasing a game has long been a time-honored method of drumming up some interest prior to release. Unfortunately, in the year of our lord 2026, it’s also a great way to get your game ripped off and distributed before you have a chance to release if yourself.

Such was the fate of Needle in a Haystack, an upcoming game from a developer who goes by NasNakarus on X and releases games under the rubric of Studio Bitdot. Earlier in the week, the developer posted this tweet:

i made a game where you literally have to find a needle in a haystack

the catch is there are 5,000,000 pieces of hay and only 1 needle pic.twitter.com/q2TehY53iJ

    — Nas (@NasNakarus) August 22, 2026

Our first thought that was that this idea looks like it’s really taking the whole meditative, repetitive gameplay thing to an extreme—a thought that also occurred to others, much to the developer’s delight. The second was that this looks like it’d be awfully easy to copy—and, depressingly enough, we also weren’t the only ones to think that, either.

As another developer who goes by twoket9 observed yesterday, “I wish I was exaggerating, but within 48 hours there have been 14 copies made [of the game] on Roblox.” Seasoned Roblox watchers and/or users appear pretty unsurprised by this; as someone far too old to have any interest in Roblox myself—and who doesn’t have children, which’d require me to worry about the platform and its reputation for being a haven for all manner of predators and creeps—I’m kinda startled by the speed at which it allows people to Xerox others’ ideas.

It’s not like Roblox is the only way you could go about copying something, either. Needle in a Haystack isn’t a particularly complicated concept—as the name suggests, it requires you to find a needle in haystack, and even as someone whose coding abilities fall somewhere between “owned a Vic-20 in the 1980s” and “tools around with Python once a decade”, I reckon I could probably use something like Unity or Godot to make something similar. (In fairness, I’m not sure I could do it overnight.) And, of course, the advent of vibe coding means that you don’t even need to know how to code in C# or GDScript to chunk out a game.

Same as it ever was, I guess—imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and all that. But being flattered doesn’t pay the bills, and god knows it’s hard enough to make rentlarcenous vultures descending the minute you post a tweet about a cool idea you had. I mean, shit, at least the Flappy Bird guy got to release his game before the horde of imitators descended
