Tijuana, Mexico, and Tokyo, Japan, meet in an elimination game on Tuesday at the 2026 Little League Baseball World Series
Tokyo, Japan (2-1), stayed alive with a win on Monday and faces Tijuana, Mexico (1-1), on Tuesday at Volunteer Stadium in Williamsport, Pennsylvania, in an elimination game at the 2026 Little League Baseball World Series. Tokyo opened the tournament with a loss to Curaçao before eliminating the Dominican Republic, while Tijuana beat Australia in its first game. Tokyo’s Joto Little League reached its second straight LLBWS after finishing 2-2 last year. The Municipal de Tijuana Little League makes its third appearance in Williamsport, returning for the first time since 2023.

Yunosuke Yabe’s second home run of the game in the fourth inning lifted Japan to a 3-2 victory over Brno, Czechia, on Monday. Takeru Yorozu led off the bottom of the first with a solo shot for Japan and one batter later, Yabe connected to give Japan a 2-1 lead. Czechia tied the game in the top of the fourth before Yabe delivered again. Yorozu and Yabe split the pitching duties, each working three innings and combining to strike out 13 while allowing one earned run on five hits and issuing no walks.
Mexico took advantage of some early mistakes from Leon, Nicaragua, on Sunday to take a 3-0 lead before Nicaragua lowered the boom with a seven-run fifth inning that carried it to an 8-4 victory. Emiliano Kerber made it a 3-0 game with an RBI groundout in the fourth and Gareth Garcia drove in a run with a single in the sixth. Tadeo Paez worked 3.1 no-hit innings, striking out five and walking four.
The winner advances to face the winner of Tuesday’s later game between Canada and South Korea on Wednesday.
