Deadline reports that Tom Selleck (Friends, Blue Bloods) has been confirmed as a guest star on an upcoming Apple TV comedy starring Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games, Love & Mercy). Here are the details.
Tom Selleck joins Apple TV project
Over the past several months, Apple TV has been adding an interesting list of names for the cast of an unnamed comedy series, led by Elizabeth Banks.
That includes Hamish Linklater (Widow’s Bay, The Big Short), Ted Danson (The Good Place, Cheers), Rob Delaney (Deadpool & Wolverine, Bad Monkey), Michelle Buteau (Clerks III), Simu Liu (Last Breath), Jared Goldstein (It’s Kind of a Funny Story), and Spencer Moss (Susie Searches).
The series, which was reportedly initially called “We’re All Gonna Die,” was ordered by Apple TV last April, and created by Liz Heldens (Will Trent) and Matt Ward (Best Medicine).
Here’s how Deadline reported the half-hour show’s plot line last May, when Ted Danson was confirmed as a regular:
In the as-yet-untitled project, Heidi (Banks) is fresh off a messy divorce and sets out to secure a lively second act for herself and her kids. But when she stumbles into coordinating her father’s (Danson) retirement community sexcapades, Heidi is forced into an unlikely alliance with his girlfriend’s perpetually single son.
Now, Deadline reports that Tom Selleck has joined as a guest star, although there are no details about the part the legendary Magnum, P.I. actor will play.
The show will be produced by 20th Television, which has also worked on Apple TV series, including The Last Thing He Told Me, Imperfect Women, and Central Park.
