Bridgewater Joe Lazaro Little League from Massachusetts represents the New England region. The team opened play on Aug. 19 against the New Jersey team, dropping a close one 2-1. The score was tied at one run apiece in the final inning before New Jersey’s walk-off win.
West Side Little League from Hamilton represents Ohio. The team received a bye in the first round, then lost 6-5 to the team from Nevada in the second round. The two sides were tied heading into the sixth inning, but Nevada walked off with the win despite Ohio having one more hit in the game.
This year’s LLWS in Williamsport, Pa. features 20 teams — 10 from the United States and 10 international teams. Last year, Tung-Yuan Little League from Taipei, Taiwan won the Little League World Series, defeating Summerlin South Little League from Las Vegas in the final.
