“What if you had memories of a past life as an alien?” — A sweeping sci-fi romance spanning past and present on a cosmic scale
Please Save My EarthfollowsArisu Sakaguchi, a high school student with a mysterious ability to communicate with plants, who begins experiencing vivid dreams of a past life on a lunar base — and discovers her classmates share the exact same memories. In these dreams, they are seven companions who once lived on a lunar base as scientists from another planet, observing Earth from afar. Meanwhile, Rin Kobayashi, a young boy living next door to Arisu, awakens after an accident to a past-life persona consumed by love for Mokuren, a woman on the lunar base. The intense passions and sins of their previous lives collide with relationships formed in the present, gradually revealing a shocking truth — and an unexpected connection between Arisu and Mokuren that binds their fates across lifetimes.
Alice Hirose as Mokuren, the key figure who sets the entire story in motion
Alice Hirose, known for her versatility across comedy and drama in Warotenka (2017), 366 Days (2024), and the Zenryoiki Ijo Kaiketsushitsu series, leads the cast as Mokuren. A member of the lunar base who harbors a profound secret that shakes the destiny of those living in the present day, Mokuren is a pivotal character holding the master key to the entire story. Her boundless love and deeply hidden solitude resonate across time, driving the narrative in unexpected directions. Audiences can look forward to Alice Hirose’s powerful and divine portrayal.
Asia’s premier creative team brings the “unfilmable” world of the original manga to life
Director Takahiro Miki, celebrated for his emotionally rich visual storytelling in Hodonaku, Owakare Desu (2026), Even If This Love Disappears from the World Tonight (2022), and Tomorrow I Will Date with Yesterday’s You (2016), brings the narrative spanning past and present lives to the screen. The production team includes Producers Mamoru Inoue, Kazuya Shimomura (THE SEVEN), and Naoto Inaba (Kadokawa Daiei Studio). Leading the visual realization of the expansive outer space sequences and intricately detailed lunar base — elements long considered impossible to adapt into live action — is VFX Producer Tomofumi Akahane (THE SEVEN). Winner of the Asian Academy Creative Awards (AACA) VFX Grand Prix for Netflix‘s Yu Yu Hakusho, Akahane uses cutting-edge technology to realize the lunar base and supernatural visions at an unprecedented scale with breathtaking realism. THE SEVEN tackles this massive project with a world-class creative lineup.
Past and present. The Moon and Earth. A timeless masterpiece unfolds on an unprecedented scale. Audiences can look forward to the visual beauty and emotional world of Please Save My Earth.
Alice Hirose (Lead Actress, playing Mokuren): ‘When filming began and I stepped onto the set, I was absolutely blown away. I had the wonderful opportunity to fully immerse myself in playing Mokuren within these enormous sets. The unfamiliar dialogue, costumes, and makeup were purely thrilling. Since this is a story spanning past and present lives, many of the younger actors playing present-day characters came to the set to observe, making it a very fresh experience. This is a work with a devoted fanbase, so we all read the original manga thoroughly and gave it everything we had. Please look forward to this extraordinary world’.
Takahiro Miki(Director): “Whenever I was asked which manga I’d most like to adapt, my answer was always Please Save My Earth. I was deeply moved by how these young boys and girls, tormented by memories of their past lives, struggle through emotional turmoil yet face the beauty and pain of love, ultimately coming to accept their clumsy selves living in the present. I want to honor the passion and prayer that have kept this legendary masterpiece beloved for so many years, while bringing to it the visual beauty and emotional depth that only live-action can achieve’.
Saki Hiwatari (Author of the Original Manga Please Save My Earth): ‘I drew this story a very long time ago, so I’m genuinely surprised that it’s being adapted into a drama in this day and age! I spent a lot of time wondering what kind of comment I should make, but I’ve been involved in a supervisory role up through the script stage. I haven’t seen the completed adaptation yet, so I intend to watch it with the same heart-pounding excitement as all the readers. Think of it as a festival! Let’s enjoy it together’
Buddy Marini (Head of Amazon MGM Studios, Japan): ‘A lunar base, memories of past lives, love that transcends time—bringing a story this epic to life in live action is an enormous challenge. But with the power of thism confident we can move audiences around the world. Please look forward to the divine presence Alice Hirose brings to Mokuren and the beautiful visual world that Director Takahiro Miki weaves’
